  Spring in South Africa

  Author: Sonja, Sep/1/1999 06:02:02

Spring is sprung, the grass is riz.........

Woke up this morning to the birds chirping loudly, sun peaking up over the horizon promising a
warmer day. It really DOES feel like 'SPRING' here this monring!

Came in to work singing 'spring' songs, logged in to my FAVOURITE site (this one of course *grin*),
and had my morning 'fix' of Michael!

I know you guys up in the northern hemisphere are starting your 'Fall' season now, but I just feel so
'positive' today, thought I'd share the feeling with y'all!

   Happy MG-filled day all!!

  Yoooooo hooooooo! : - )

  Author: Julia 2, Sep/1/1999 23:38:12

I can't believe it! I finally got on this board!
I've been trying for the last few days to post a msg.
on this board as well as the MG one list and have had
NO luck posting on either for some reason.

Just wanted to say HI. I've enjoyed reading
everyone's msgs. when I can but am glad I can
   finally post one as well!

I'm "julia 2" (there appears to be a previous Julia
on this list) but my Indian name is "she who likes
   chocolate"!)

(Oh dear, hope no one is offended by that last sentence, it
   is meant in jest)

   that's all for now!!!!

            chocolate fan - Angela Konen, Sep/2/1999 03:14:41

        Hi Julia 2!

I love chocolate too especially the dark semi-sweet kind BUT you have to keep in mind that
        "Tokalah is
        BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE!" :):)

  Guess who, with guess what...

  Author: Sonja, Sep/2/1999 05:56:27

Yep, me again, with a CALL TO KEEP VOTING!!!

We have Michael in FRIST PLACE! Can we keep him there?
   VOTE GIRLS!!!!!
I see a few BABES are hanging around the booth again - keep an eye on their voting fingers, people,
and don't let a day go by without voting!!

(Pass the tea Marnie, I'm quite exhausted with all this excitement!!)

        TOKALAH RULES!

More voting booth blues? - Marnie, Sep/3/1999 17:47:54

I'm voting, I'm voting ....my finger is a worn down red stub ....and the Frankie Avina fans are
still sneaking up on us! I'm so exhausted I'll have to go watch some more of the new Aboriginal
People's Television Network ....just one glimpse of MG and I'll be refreshed. Speaking of
refreshments, Angela, I'll have a cup of Earl Grey(eyes) and pass the cucumber sandwiches ...(I
hope Gin didn't make them ...she never cuts the crusts off the way I like 'em! *s*)
        Marnie

                 Holding our own - Sonja, Sep/6/1999 07:11:35

I must say I'm pretty excited about Michael in first place. We just have to keep on
keepin' on!!! By the end of this month our voting fingers will be in peak condition. If
anyone is suffering from the dreaded 'voters finger', I have a good salve here which may
help the situation. It should be massaged in to the ailing finger while observing any
picture or video of MG. This usually does the trick and that finger will be ready and
             raring to vote again!

As it's a new week, I have brought a new supply of Earl Grey, a fresh sliced sandwich
loaf, butter, cucumbers, and a pinch of pepper - and for goodness sake, someone cut
Marnie's crusts off before she does something nasty!!!

My finger is fine! - Angela Konen..., Sep/6/1999 12:26:50

Just voted! I'm # 220. The second place person has 143. Sonja, you must have some
                  special sauce on that
cucumber sandwich! I like my cukes, whole, unadorned(in all their natural goodness)
and with just a pinch of salt.

                  Angela

  Greyeyes?

  Author: Greyeyes, Sep/6/1999 22:42:06

Hi, just out of curiosity, I am navajo. I am a navajo greyeyes.
Whats the story behind Michael Greyeyes' last name. Oh, i think
he is a very accomplish person. Thanks. Bye.

            What's in a name? - Marnie, Sep/7/1999 03:57:37

Well, I don't know anything about it's origin but I'll tell you what little I do know. MG
pronounces it Grey-Eyes as in two words ...apparently it has been pronounced several different
ways. At his official site he does talk about his surname a little ...especially people's reaction
to his name ...the usual being ...and I quote it here, ""But your eyes aren't gray!" I heard this
one so many times, that when people don't say it I'm practically surprised." MG is Cree from
Saskatchewan, Canada ...and I know there are quite a few Greyeyes' in Saskatchewan, I know a
family in my town with the same surname, too. (Not in saskatchewan) So, although it isn't a
really common name ...it isn't so unusual either. Hope this helps, Marnie

               - Greyeyes, Sep/8/1999 03:51:47

Thanks for the response. I get that all the time myself and it is
pronounced the same way. Oh well. It is all right though.

            NUMERO UNO!! - Angela Konen..., Sep/9/1999 13:01:04

THIS IS A RAP!! SO GET OFF THE COMPUTER CHAIR AND CLAP!

Get out the cucumbers...put on the tea.. Michael's the maim man... as you can see...He's all that...
and he's so fine...Vote for OUR HERO...ev'ry single
        time!!

Ha-ha!! Well done Angela! What a call to arms!!

Enough cuke sandwiches already! - inti, Sep/12/1999 11:22:52

All those cucumber sandwiches you damsels are devouring
are getting pretty boring. I tried recipes
yesterday for Ojibway bannock (sort of a biscuit bread)
with sage and wild onion, served with spicy wild rice
burgers (a recipe from the same Native chef). They
were different, scrumptious and heavenly. I have
plenty of Sonja's South African Rooibos tea to wash
them down, so come on over, y'all!

Folks, WE'RE DOING IT!! We have Michael still firmly in first place at the polls, with a lead of
over 100 votes. Ha! Those Frankie Avina fans don't know what hit 'em, 'ey? *grin*
Thank you to everybody for voting so regularly - don't slack off now!!!! We aren't even half way
   through the month yet!

If you've never voted before, go to the Voting Booth from the link above, and start voting today!

            Brain interruption - Marnie, Sep/8/1999 20:16:47

I followed the link to the voting booth but when I got there I couldn't remember was it
Michael Greyeyes or Frankie Avina I was supposed to vote for ...decision, decisions! I
definitely need some Earl Grey(eyes) tea to refresh my little grey(eyes) cells! Get the kettle
on Sonja and do we have any cucumbers for a round of sandwiches or has Angela eaten them all
        sans bread and butter?
        Marnie
PS Oh yes, in the end I voted for Michael! *s*

                 Too much Havoc - Sonja, Sep/9/1999 06:36:37
            Homepage: Voting booth

My dear Marnie, you have obviously been spending much too much time nursing that pooch
of yours back to health. Perhaps it is the fumes from the alcohol-rub you have been
massaging into our intrepid mascot's back legs every few hours. So we will forgive you,
             THIS time!! *grin*

I do most certainly feel you need a 'pick-me-up' prescribed : So, one large pot of Earl
Grey(eyes) tea comin' up, and I'm sure Angela will supply some more sandwiches if we ask
nicely. But I'm kinda missing that wonderful frybread - should I make another attempt at
             a batch then??

Sonja's Recipe ...Contravening the Geneva Convention?
                       - Marnie, Sep/9/1999 08:16:36

Oo...er. That would be lovely Sonja ...Havoc loved the last batch...OK, we used them
as frisbees but I know Theresa gave you some good recipe advice so surely you'll
have the hang of it by now! If not, could you make 'em extra large ...I have to
replace a couple of patio stones!
                  Marnie
PS I'm just off to vote ...for MG, yes...definitely MG!

            Tallyho!! - Marnie, Sep/20/1999 09:27:51

Well, I'm off to vote ....but I think we may be in need of re-inforcements! Everyone, drop your
Earl Grey(eyes) tea and get your Mothers on-line, your brothers on-line ....heck, get the
strange Uncle that no-one talks about! Just make sure they vote for MG!
Marnie (who thinks that the strain of keeping MG no.1 may finally be getting to her!)

            Only 20 votes separate us! - Torrie, Sep/18/1999 16:26:24

I was on to vote this morning and there is only 20
votes between MG and FA!!! When did this happen?
I vote everyday and yesterday a.m. there was over a
hundred votes separating them!!! Something is
"fishy" here!!! I demand a recount!!!

            Where do I vote??? - Sasha, Sep/19/1999 03:33:13

Hi. I am new to this board and group. Where do I go
to vote for Michael, and who is Frankie Avina? I have
never heard of him. I gather that y'all don't like him
too much:-) Please let me know where to vote for Michael.

             Thanks,

Dear God That Michael Greyeyes Is Fine

  Author: dawn, Sep/19/1999 16:37:18

I just watched Stolen Women on tape that a friend had recorded
on tape, and I have to say sweet jesus that man is breathtaking.
I don't know if his wife knows it or not, but she is the luckiest
woman around. My favorite part also was where he said I'll run you till you drop.
I watched and the man has me all tougue tied and dizzy.
They need to release all his movies in a collection.
I would pay for it no matter the cost, and I must say there
isn't a leading man in hollywood that could even begin
to compete with him in looks. I think God makes one special
man that man had to Michael Greyeyes because i have never
in my life seen such a man. I mean good looking and can
dance also. I wish him and his family all the luck
in the world they deserve it all.:)

            Sonja's favourite line! - Marnie, Sep/20/1999 09:24:55
       Homepage: Voting Booth

It's funny the effect MG has on us....believe me you're not alone. :) You just happened to pick
Sonja's favourite line, too,- "I'll run you till you drop!" ...and now you've reminded her ....we
won't be able to get any sense out of her for days!
I just added a new page in the gallery ...you might want to drop in and check it out.
        Marnie

                 Favorite line - Sasha, Sep/20/1999 12:01:25

That line was one of my favorites too, but I also
loved the expression on his face when he was about
to shoot her and couldn't. I also loved all of the
sexual tension between them. OK OK, I loved every
single scene with Michael in it:-)

HELL YA HE FINE - LATINA DIVA, Nov/25/1999 00:39:10

Welcome Sasha and Dawn!!

  Author: Angela Konen, Sep/20/1999 16:56:10

It is so good to meet more people that feel like I do whenever I see that "Apollo among men",
everything about him is so well proportioned and beautiful!! I am driving our local video store crazy
to hurry up with my personal order for "Crazy Horse". See our
Noble Warrior, Our Hero, defend the Lakota!!

AND if you feel he is NUMBER ONE , VOTE!

PS--some other favorite parts of SWCH include "the Pat, the Shirt(my personal favorite), "Wash
   the Horse,Anna" and of course,
   the Kiss

            The Pat???? - Sasha, Sep/21/1999 03:15:25

        Hi Angala,
Thanks for the welcome. I keep trying to remember
"the pat", but keep coming up blank. All of the
other scenes I can remember, but what was "the pat"?

        Thanks,
        Sasha

                 Ooops!!! Misspelled name - Sasha, Sep/21/1999 03:18:23

Sorry that I spelled your name wrong Angela. I really
do need to proofread before I post:-)

             Sasha

Not to worry! - Angela Konen, Sep/21/1999 10:31:01

I get misspelling of my name all the time--Mostly
"Angelia" I am glad you are with us--and that you joined our onelist group.

The Pat explained for Sasha - Sonja, Sep/22/1999 05:53:45

The first scene with Anna in Tokala's teepee where they start to talk to one another
(they both 'speak bad', remember?) He leans back and gently pats the skin bedding next
to him with a 'You KNOW what I want' look on his face. She, the demure Christian woman
that she is, is horrified and tells him she HAS a husband, and will not commit adultery
             with him, or anyone else.

He does SUCH a good 'sulk'! *grin*

             Favorite Lines

  Author: Amanda, Sep/21/1999 19:44:12

While we're on the subject of favorite lines from "Stolen Women", I just can't stop thinking about
my favorite. When they are alone in his tee-pee, his hand touches the side of her cheek and he
murmurs, " I want you to live in my lodge, share my life", etc.... And later, after she reminds him that
she has a husband, his answer " That was in your old life! You are free to chose me". Ah, great
stuff!!! He certainly has a lasting effect on the senses, doesn't he?

            My Lodge - Angela Konen..., Sep/21/1999 20:47:44

I can't remember his touching her cheek but I do remember "I want you to live in my lodge.."
and she stiffens up and I am sitting at home thinking,"this is insane, how can she turn him
down!!!" I can't remember if this is a separate scene from "the pat" or if it is in the same
scene. I think there are 2 scenes inside his lodge. This is what happens when you don't have a
tape in your vcr at a crucial time!!

                 The Lodge - Amanda, Sep/21/1999 22:36:12

The scene with "the pat" is the first scene inside the lodge. Yes, there is a second scene
later on. This one opens with her asking him how he got his scars. He tells her he got them
in a "vision quest", but cannot speak of it. Then, he touches her cheek, etc....I love the
scene with " the pat", as well. So sexy!! There's another scene I remembered when Anna
tries to escape and he confronts her. (Before the kiss). She yells at him that he stole her
from her home, etc.. and he replies, "I gave you a better life!" His vocal inflection is so
moving. It just gives me chills! What a character Tokalah is!!

                      Moving inflections - Angela Konen, Sep/22/1999 11:34:32

Speaking of vocal inflections--his voice is memorable and easy to pick out in a
group. I love it when he is angry and clips the endings to his words-especially when
he speaks in Lakota (Crazy Horse) and as Gooch
(DMO). He could read the telephone directory and I would be thrilled.

  Author: Sasha, Sep/22/1999 19:03:43

I can't get into Yahoo right now, so i thought that I would leave a message.
A friend gave me this addy to another poll. I know, you're thinking that we
don't need another poll, but since Michael was already on it, I thought that we
ought to vote for him on it too. It's about NA actors that you think deserves
an Oscar for the role that he played. Guess who is in first place? Nope, it's
not Michael. I have some other stuff to tell y'all, but I want to wait until
I can write a letter to the group. Talk to y'all soon.(Hopefully)

That Michael Greyeyes is one super actor!

  Author: Cindy Johnston, Sep/25/1999 15:54:20

Just wanted you to know, Michael, that I think what
you have accomplished in your lifetime as a dancer
and actor is absolutely wonderful. I have seen only
a few of your movies, but I loved them all. And I hope
you will be making more movies and T.V. appearances
in the future. I also think it is great that you
are learning more about your Cree heritage. Being a
little more than 1/4 Cherokee myself, I have been deeply
involved in learning more about my own heritage for the
past several years. I hope to attend a powwow that will
soon be coming to a town near my home. If I'm lucky,
I might see you there - who knows?!
   Take care.
