White hat & ZigZag question
Author: Nellie, Jul/1/2001 22:58:10
my server's email system is on the fritz.
What a frustration.
So there is a picture someplace of MG in the white
hat? Where do l find it? l guess they wore them
in that shape in the 60's.
Is ZigZag out this month?
pic - Marnie, Jul/3/2001 01:11:21
Hi Nellie, The pic also got uploaded to the e-mail list shared files so
you can find it in
there, too.

Hey all, check out the bottom of the FAQ page 4, MG explains about that
egg scene blooper!!

An egg-splosion!! - Sonja, Jul/3/2001 06:15:36
Well that explains things! It WASN'T 'continuity's' fault! (*sigh* they
always get the
blame, don't they?! *g*). That scene must have been explosive!! What a
pity they cut it!
*sulk*
BTW, anyone else having a hassle loading the background of the FAQ 4 page?
I get a
white screen so can't read the 'questions' (which are obviously done in
white on a
darker background), only the 'answers' which are in pale blue. It's loading
fine for
others, mine just won't...despite 'reloads'! *sigh*
Eggs Benediction - Marnie, Jul/4/2001 05:23:08
Aha! Now I would have liked to have seen that ...It's a pity extra scenes
weren't
included in the DVD ....guess we'll have to 'pray' for a Director's Cut!
LOL

William Lightening.......
Author: lil_shy_eye17 , Jul/3/2001 01:50:33
Hey waz up?
I am a big fan of Michael Greyeyes and I love Stolen
Women. I watch it evey weekend. He just memorizes me
as his character "Tokalah". Another male actor that
memorizes me, that I never really noticed before,
til recently is Jatah or is it Chatah? I know his
name is William Lightening, that is all I know of
him. I would like to know more...so do you guys know
anything about him??? Does he have a fan mail address
or page??? Anything you could tell me about him would
be great. Thaks so much!!!!!

Hi Jessie,
Yup, William caught my eye too in SWCH and a few other movies. His younger
brother,
Cody, played the young Victor in Smoke Signals. Annie has a page up for
the family at
her NativeCelebs site. Click on the link above "The Lightening family"
and that should
take you to the page. Scroll down and you will see there is a guest book
up too, which I
understand they DO read! Enjoy!!
SWCH ...again - Marnie, Jul/4/2001 05:17:33
Hi all,
SWCH is on the Lifetime Movie Network once again (or twice again to be
more accurate
LOL)
Fri Jul 13 08:00P LMN- Lifetime Movie Network
Sat Jul 14 09:30A LMN- Lifetime Movie Network
Hope all who missed it can catch it this time round,
Marnie:)
:-{ Do me no good at all ... - Zan, Jul/4/2001 10:17:14
So sad -- will miss it ... again !!! Wish I could
fly North, just to watch His Hi-ness in action.
On another not, looks like SP won't be coming here.
Can't get my hands on any of MG's other movies, either
(except for Crazy Horse). Still, I guess you lot would
have problems getting most of OUR movies, eh ?
Out In The Cold!!!!! - Marlene, Jul/4/2001 18:07:36
Hey Zan,
Do you feel a little left out in the cold, like poor
Michael in the snow in "A Nation Is Coming"?
I sure do about SP. Everyone even gets to compare
the picture with the book and I'm still going around
from town to town trying to find SP in a vodeo
rental place.
I did get my dvd but don't have the proper tv to
connect the darn thing.
I'll see what I can do about SWCH.
Sigh ... - Zan, Jul/8/2001 22:50:17
Since the only movies with MG in them that I've gotten
to see are SWCH and Crazy Horse (read the script of
Hero), I'm out in the cold on most fronts.:-{
However, I have seen all the TV serial bits of different
programs with him in it, just no mini-series. Means
I get adore the great Hi-Greylander with meager reason,
but I do, nevertheless.
I Understand Zan! - Marlene, Jul/11/2001 04:41:14
I thought the only Michael Greyeyes picture you've
seen was CH! Glad you got to see SWCH. You got
the best of them,I think!
Movie vs. book
Author: Laurie, Jul/4/2001 12:19:04
I pulled out my copy of the Skipped Parts book last night.
--Some of the movie dialogue was word for word from the book including
Hank's sentence
about wanting a cup of coffee!
--The bathtub scene was there in the book but without the modesty of soap
bubbles.
--Hank plays a much bigger role in the book and he acts fatherly to young
Sam.
--In the book some of Lydia's comments about Indians and African Americans
sound rather
racist. She says nastier things to Hank in the book than in the movie.
Then again they cut that
scene with the eggs didn't they?
--At Christmas in the book Hank gives Lydia a pair of Indian earrings that
she turns her nose
up at. The movie's dialogue about how in Hank's tradition he should be
giving her a horse
(instead of a bicycle) is not in the book.
--Also at Christmas in the book Hanks gives Sam a shotgun then takes him
out to the dump to
learn how to shoot it where Sam accidentally shoots a dog in the leg.
--In the book Hank actually does appear in boxers, white ones, as he steps
out of the
bathroom. In that scene he's also wearing a leather ankle bracelet. In
the movie he is wearing
a leather adornment on his ankle in the bathtub scene.
--In the movie, Hank says several times that he is Blackfeet. In the book
he is referred to
several times as Blackfoot, but at least once his people are referred to
as Blackfeet. But in
the book his heritage is a little confusing because its says one of his
ancestors was a
Cheyenne who was at the Little Big Horn fight. And in the book Hank says
one of his
present-relatives bribed someone so that the family could be listed on
Kiowa rolls because
the Kiowa got better benefits (checks and aid) than the Blackfeet.
--I didn't see yet a scene in the book like the one at the cafe where Hank
smashes the window
with the moosehead.
--In the book the moosehead plays a larger role, even has a nickname -
Les.
--Lydia comes out nicer and more loving in the movie, in the book she comes
across as a lazy,
drunken slut who gives Sam bad examples left and right, even gives him
Valium in one scene.
--The movie certainly toned things down because the book has very graphic
scenes between
the young teen's Sam and Maurey. The movie thankfully left out a truly
graphic scene in
which Lydia describes how she was raped when she was only about 15 and
became pregnant
with Sam. That scene was pretty awful to read.
--The movie shows Hank as a nice stable guy. In the book he is that and
more. The only sane
one among all the nuts populating the story. Opposites attract and Hank
and Lydia are total
opposites but somehow the one balances the other.
Do I recommend this book? Not really, it is kind of vulgar in parts. But
I skimmed over it
again to see the differences and similarities between the book and movie.
Laurie
Re: Movie vs. book - Carol, Jul/4/2001 14:30:21
Laurie-Thanks for your comparisons on the book and movie.
There is just one thing I don't understand and that
is how a moosehead has a bigger part in the book than
the movie? Seems to me the moosehead had special significance
between Lydia and Hank. Like a private joke kinda thing. If you
have some insight into this I would really like to know.
For Carol about moosehead - Laurie, Jul/4/2001 15:58:09
Carol,
I'm working today. I'll skim through the book again tonite and see what
the
moosehead's significance was. I read the book about 2 yrs ago so I don't
recall.
Except that "Les" the moose was a fixture hanging on the wall of the cabin
or
cottage that Lydia and Sam lived in, there in WY. One scene in the book
Sam
comes home to find that Lydia and Hank had stuffed empty toilet paper rolls
up
the poor moose's nostrils!
I think in the beginning the usually drunk or tipsy Lydia "talked" to Les
before
she got to know anybody in the little town. Something like that anyway.
Maybe Les
was just "comic relief" in the story line.
Coincidences:
--First Michael plays a pilot named Andy Mooseheart in Firestrom. Then
he plays
Hank who lugs a moosehead around in this movie! Oh, a
--In Dance Me Outside Gooch gets a drink thrown in his face at the Blue
Quills
bar. In this movie Lydia throws a drink in his face at the Wild West Saloon.
--Gooch didn't drink, neither does Hank. Did you notice at the saloon Lydia
was
drinking alcohol while he had a cup of coffee?
--Except at the end of Dance Me Outside Gooch had something to drink and
was
hauled into the police station where he got violent (the movie doesn't
say he was
drinking, but I think I read a quote from MG on his official site or someplace
where he says that's what happened). And the heartbroke Hank got "drunk
as a
skunk" and threw the moosehead into the cafe window.
--I think the only times I've heard MG say the "F" word in his movies was
as
Gooch and now as Hank.
Hey Michael are you feeling kind of a "deja vu" with these similarities??
LOL

More Hank & the moosehead - Laurie, Jul/5/2001 11:18:27
Sorry Carol I didn't have time to skim thru the early part of the book
to
find out the significance of "Les" the moosehead. What I did happen to
see
in the book was the scene where the heartbroke tipsy Hank smashes the cafe
window with the moosehead. The dialog is almost word for word like in the
movie.
In reading the book I don't really understand the attraction between Hank
& Lydia. She is self-centered and seems to use him. It isn't explained
what he
sees in her.
I read an excerpt from one of the sequels to this book. In later years
Lydia
becomes the editor of the town's feminist newspaper. Hank runs Maurey's
father's horse ranch and only sees Lydia when she calls and needs him for,
well, for when her hormones are racing! (I am trying to put it politely
here!!)

Moosehead mystery - Carol, Jul/6/2001 02:13:52
Laurie, Thanks for doing the research. I didn't know
there was a sequel to the book. I'll see if I can
get a copy at the library this weekend.
BTW isn't this weekend Sat chat?

(Plus I have to add new java code ...which they still haven't sent

everyone can make it!
Marnie:)
PS and here I though the moosehead was just a handy underwear
hanger LOL
Moose's name, sequels - Laurie, Jul/6/2001 09:44:32
Hi Carol, when the moosehead first appears in the book Lydia &
Sam have just moved into the cabin in the town of GroVont
Wyoming. The cabin has stuffed animal heads in most of the
rooms. Lydia likes to lay on the sofa and in the first "moose"
scene she is blowing cigarrette smoke at the moosehead. She calls
him Les, short for Less like drinking alone. She spends alot of
time on the sofa smoking and drinking Gin.
There are 2 bathtub scenes. Near the end of the book Hank and
Lydia are in the tub again, this time with Les in the water with
them. Whatever significance the moosehead has, it's like it
becomes affectionately a part of the family. Lydia even hangs her
undies on him to dry!!
Skipped Parts is part of the so-called GroVont trilogy by author
Tim Sandlin. Not that I am rushing out to buy the other two
stories. Not my kind of literature!! But I had fun comparing the
book and the movie. Loved Michael's perfromance.
Laurie
More Hank trivia - Laurie, Jul/6/2001 19:14:11
Did you notice in the Xmas scene Hank says Happy
Christmas? In the book it explains that. Somebody says that
Hank says Happy Christmas and Merry New Year and that
may be this was a Blackfoot way of saying things. One thing
about the book it has alot of derogotory comments about
Indians. Bothered me even tho' I tried to put it in the
context of the way people thought and talked back in the
60's. In the book Hank usually doesn't say anything when
people say mean things to him or about him..
It was kinda neat that in the movie Sam's granddad was
always threatening to ship him off to Custer military
Academy. In the book it was Culver or something like that
military school.
Okay I'm sure you are all *real* tired of my comparisons
between the book & movie so I'll shut up now!! LOL Over to
you!
Laurie
Comparing! - Marlene, Jul/7/2001 04:50:49
I also enjoyed the switch to "Custer" military
academy! Also when Hank cooly corrects his tribe
from Kiowa to Blackfeet. I got a kick out of the
grandfather looking down at his own feet when Hank
was so serious.
I think Michael dominated the final scenes of the
picture with his great acting talent.
Thanks for the comments Laurie!
Skipped Parts book - Zan, Jul/8/2001 22:38:53
Could you tell me who wrote the book, when it was
published and who by ? Since it's the closest I'm
likely to get to the movie, I'd like to read it, even
if it is vulgar in parts. Other than that, was it
well-written ?

It's title is Skipped Parts by author Tim Sandlin. You asked if it's well-written.
I
guess literature is in the eye of the beholder. What one person thinks
is great
literature, another thinks is trash.

the room
...where we were all waiting (Sonja with noodle whip at the ready ...she's

on your

Skipped Parts - Movie Reviews

I found the following link to some movie review of Skipped Parts.
Not many, probably because it went directly to video. Unfortunately,
the reviews are not good and they don't even mention Michael.
I thought, though, that you may want to read what some critics have to

Just saw Skipped Parts - Nancy, Jul/15/2001 17:18:20
Hi,
Thanks for sharing the info. I just saw Skipped Parts as it was in Blockbuster.
I really
think Michael was the one that made the pieces stick together. He was the
"morale"
figure of the new American family unit or so it seemed this avant garde
(did I spell that
right?, well a new type of movie is what I meant) tried to portray. It
was an art house
type of movie, which I really like, but I think that some parts of the
general public
would have frowned on.
It's sad that Michael does not get the major credit he deserves. Even for
Stolen
Women, Captured Hearts, I had to go through all the actors' names from
the top to see
who Tokalah was. (Sorry, I didn't know a lot of the actors' names.) Although
there may
be authority of older and more famous actors, credit should be given to
the actors that
make the movie happen. But all in all, I do think it was a great move on
Michael's part to
be on Skipped Parts.
I Agree! - Marlene, Jul/16/2001 04:22:17
As I said already, I think Michael dominated the
final scenes in SP with his fine acting.
He portrayed such great compassion for Maury's
mother in the mud splattered Rodeo Arena.
I laughed when Hank corrected the Grandfather who
referred to Hank as Blackfeet. It was real comical
when the grandad looked down at his own feet when
Michael said,"Blackfeet" with a straight face.
I can't understand how they never even mentioned
Michael's expert drama and comedy!
Re: I Agree! - Nancy, Jul/16/2001 16:19:18
Hi Marlene,
Yep, he sure is the dominating actor. I'm new to this club and so I just
finished reading all the previous messages. Hope tohang around here from
now on.
Since I rented Skipped Parts, I was able to see it a couple of times (I
fast
forwarded to get Michael of course!). He is such a great actor. I love
his
laughing voice when he is bicycling with the others and the way he looks
when
the son walks into the bathtub scene. And even the "bed scene" was so
natural. But anyway, as I read his boi and things like that of this talented
man, it really makes me feel that he is such a nice person. Lots of integrity
and class. I mean every household should have a Michael Greyeyes as a man
in
their family! It's not only the sexiness but he seems to be is really nice
as a
husband, son, cousin, nephew, father, brother, etc. etc.!
As Skipped Parts was quite a feminist and boutique type movie, I wonder
how it was promoted overseas. I have a feeling, Europe would love it and
that
would mean Michael may get roles in overeas movies in the future.
Sorry for the long memo, but after seeing Skipped Parts several times,
I did
notice the disappearing of the 9 eggs (lol).
Missing Eggs! - Marlene, Jul/17/2001 05:22:08
Hi Nancy!
Yes, to bad they cut that scene. Michael mentioned
someplace that he would have liked to have seen how
that bit would have turned out.
You may be right----SP might go over big in Europe.
If it means our Michael might get some starring
roles I quess it would be great for him! But,I sure
wish he'd be able to stay in the US and Canada!
I go by the places where they filmed "Crazy Horse"
here in So Dakota abd there isn't a day that
goes by that I don't think of Michael here.
Wouldn't it be great if Michael got a really big
role in Costner's "Holy Road"(Sequel of Dances with
Wolves)??????
Hey now who's writing long stuff????
Can't help it when we talk about our Michael-Right??
Welcome,Nancy!
Re: l agree/ - Nellie, Jul/19/2001 17:35:44
Michael in europe???
Nah! NO! NYET!!NO WAY!!!! YUK!!!!FO'GETIT!!
He wants to do film about NDN issues and life.
l whole heartedly support him. This country
needs films and series that tell it like
it is, and was.
WE NEED HIM HERE!!
Skipping Skipped Parts - Nellie, Jul/17/2001 06:09:47
l have my own special copy of Skipped Parts where l
have edited out all scenes except Michael's.
BTW Sherman Alexie grew his hair long, Michael.
l really think Michael should change his mind and
grow his hair back. All the new fans are going to
expect to see him that way in the next film.
l would not be surpised if the next offer will be
for him to appear as he has been---with the hair-
Michael!
Re: Skipping Skipped Parts and his hair - Nancy, Jul/18/2001 01:46:30
Hi Nellie,
Wow, what a way to go girl! It must have taken an effort to edit all that
since
Michael was all over in Skipped Parts!
Also, I kinda understand about your comment on his long hair. My kudos
to him and
his management team for cutting his hair for this job. It really shows
his integrity
in acting as a pro. (I am so mad that the pilot program was not selected!)
However,
long, black hair is often regarded as quite sacred in many cultures. Even
in Asia.
Cutting it brings a feeling of humiliation and sadness. I do hope he grows
it at
least until another short-hair job comes along. Besides I LUV it long!!
Well,
anything will do if it were Michael!
Bye for now.
-Nancy
Re:ssp and hair - Nellie, Jul/19/2001 04:06:33
Actually it was pretty easy since my vcr has hair
trigger ff and start buttons.
Michael said he was going to stay with the short
hair, that's why l said l wish he'd change his mind.
Long hair has never gone out. There is a particularly
handsome soccer player with hair almost as long as
Michael's was. He has a message board and mostly gals
write and they tell him how much they love his hair.
There is something so beautiful and masculine and
strong about a man with long hair.
Goes back to the days of Samson!
We Agree! - Marlene, Jul/19/2001 05:40:07
Nellie,
There was nothing more powerful than a warrior
racing across the prairie with long hair blowing in
the wind. Remember Michael as Crazy Horse???
Seeing him this way and in SWCH just made the heart
pound! DON'T YOU AGREE,NANCY?????
Me too! - Nancy, Jul/19/2001 15:36:01
Yeah, if I had to make a choice I would go for long hair. In fact I
visited a site called the Long Hair Brigade and agree with the
founder of that movement. Michael with long hair is abolutely
divine. But if Michael and his team went through a period of
"trying something different", I understand that too. Well, I do
hope it was just a trial thing though.
I haven't seen Crazy Horse yet. I should get it.
You guys all seem so nice. It's nice to come here.
Have a good day!

Hi, I haven't posted over here (I usually post on
the Eric Schweig boards) but I just watched
"Skipped Parts" and I think the ES folks are
getting a little tired of my rantings about MG....
so I thought I'd make a little visit over here
where my comments might be a little bit more
appreciated!!!
He is so expressive, both drama and comedy, but
geez, you folks already knew that. And what about
those legs?
I had noticed the egg thing in SP and thanks to your
Q&A board I now know the answer.
Well, back to the VCR so I can watch SP for the
fifth time......
How do I get to the Eric Schweig page? susie Jul/22/2001 22:52:40
ES boards.... - kat lady, Jul/22/2001 23:24:51
members5.boardhost.com/EricSchweig/index.html is
an unofficial ES fan site/message board (Mariann).
members4.boardhost.com/LH4ES is the EmaskS board
and site that discusses his art/carvings (Lori).
members4boardhost.com/cibrsis4u is Missy's Schweig
board.
Cyn shut her ES board down last month. :(
We are a chatty bunch and go from one board to
another.
Hi Kat!! - Jeri, Jul/23/2001 00:45:12
Glad to see you here Kat!! I will never get tired of your
'rantings' about Michael!! LOL!!
Jeri
Jeri, you have led me astray by recommending SP!!!! - kat lady, Jul/23/2001 22:16:10
I was intrigued at the thought of a handsome guy
accessorizing with boxer shorts and taxidermy, and
since ES hasn't (so far) been filmed in undies
toting around a large mammal head, I had to check
it out.
I think I may lose my full-fledged Ericette status
if this keeps up!! :)
ROTFL.... - Jeri, Jul/25/2001 19:51:49
You and me both Kiddo!!! LOL!!
Jeri
Any fan of ES..... - Sonja, Jul/23/2001 05:30:01
..is a friend of ours! *g*
Welcome here Kat! I also ADORE MG's legs!! Can't beat a dancer's pegs,
no sirreee! LOL! I haven't
seen Skipped Parts yet, but everyone is very impressed with Michael's performance
in this one....and
anything that shows off his legs (and chest, and abs, and.....) *tee-hee*
is FINE by me!!
Thanks for the welcome... - kat lady, Jul/23/2001 22:11:57
some of my ES buds are getting a little tired of my
MG ramblings but they haven't seen Skipped Parts
yet. Do yourself a favor and rent this NOW. It IS
a good performance and he looks so good too.
Hi Kat Lady - Nellie, Jul/24/2001 03:33:39
Welcome Kat.
We do have a similarity in board names-only l
only use Catwoman on All My Children and on
Andromeda, before it got closed.
What do you think of Michael getting his beautiful
hair cut off? he did that in April l think-
l am still very disappointed, and hope he will
change his mind and-
Please grow it back,Michael!
Hi, Kat Lady! - Carol, Jul/25/2001 23:27:25
As we say here in Florida Howaaryalldoin? Welcome to
our neck of the woods. Hope you enjoy your stay in Greyland!
Hair cuts - kat lady, Jul/26/2001 00:07:01
Yeah, we had a big pity party on the ES boards a
few months back, discussing haircuts of ES, MG, and
Adam Beach. Some of us had to seek comfort by
gazing on pictures of Mato (lead guitar/singer in
Indigenous). Are you guys familiar with the band?
If not, go to their website and prepare to drool.
I had to waterproof my CD cover. And their music
is really good too, sort of bluesy rock, Stevie Ray
Vaughn/Allman Brothers type.
I guess that Catwoman, Kat Lady, etc., are really
popular names for posters, I've been asked lots of
times if I'm a regular poster on other boards. (no)
haircuts - Nellie, Jul/26/2001 22:39:27
l found a soccer player with hair almost as
long as MG's and he sure is soothng to look at.
Long Hair! - Marlene, Jul/27/2001 17:33:03
Nellie is officially, now the greatest LONG HAIR
HUNTRESS! And she sure finds some really cool guys!
LONG HAIR FOREVER-----YES!!!!!!!
Who? Who? - kat lady, Jul/27/2001 22:06:51
Forgive my owl impression!!! What is this soccer
player's name? Cuz soccer players also have great
legs, etc., and this guy sounds like a treat to
view....
Soccer man - Nellie, Jul/28/2001 04:08:18
His name is Juan Francisco Palencia.
you can see him at http://www.geocities.com/
colosseum/stands/7591/otras_fotos.htm
excuse the early cornrow shot. l like the second
to last picture a lot -also the airport rush
really shows the long hair.
Thanks for the info... - kat lady, Jul/28/2001 12:37:04
his hair is great but he's just not quite MG or ES
now, is he??? picky, picky......
Nope! - Marlene, Jul/28/2001 20:16:49
Juan is not Michael(Too bad-only once in a lifetime)
But then Michael is not Adam Beach(What a knock
out smile) nor is Michael,Eric! (I love that deep
voice) And Rodney Grant(I love this guy but he sure
is loud sometimes)
They all have their special talents or athletic
greatness and just think how lucky we are to be able
to enjoy them. Bless them all, the actors and super
athletes.
Nellie! kat lady should see "Michael's little
brother" or that special "Hunk of Goodies!"
Oh yes! - Nellie, Jul/28/2001 21:44:44
you are so right Marlene.
um! l'll have to look up those addys.
Hey... - Marjon, Aug/12/2001 21:08:02
Kat Lady.../you're here too? I agree, about what you said about Michael,
but i really think the gals at
the other boardshould be understanding...afterall, they talk a lot about
those native rock
dudies...what's their name again? Hahaha LOL
Author: Sonja, Jul/24/2001 05:14:28
Ah well seems there ARE a few problems at the voting booth. Dunno what
exactly the prob is,
or how long it will take 'em to fix it. But I'll keep an eye on it...it
might just be a small hiccup
which will only take a few days to sort out.
In the meantime...keep up the chit-chat ladies!
REGARDING Voting Booth Blues - Deanna, Jul/25/2001 06:23:41
I don't know what's happening at the voting booth -
Sunday, Michael had 1162 votes and now he's down
to 569 - EXPLAIN THAT ONE!
Votes... - Jeri, Jul/25/2001 20:04:51
Well it's back up to 1291. One question... who the heck is
IOAN GRUFFUDD????????????????????
Jeri
For Jeri --- your question - Laurie, Jul/25/2001 23:01:39
Ioan Gruffud is a rather goodlooking young Welsh actor who has played the
lead in at least 2 made for TV movies about the daring fictional character
Horatio Hornblower. These movies are based on a series of books. It's about
this daring, brave sea captain around the early 1800s, I think. Lots of
adventures.
Also i think I read that he pronounces his last name as Griffith.
Any body here speak Welsh???
Laurie
Ok, now I know who he is!! - Jeri, Jul/26/2001 00:06:10
Thanks Laurie!! As soon as you mentioned the show, the light bulb
went on and I knew who he was. Yes, he is good looking....but not as
good as Michael!!!
Nope...no way!!
Jeri
Votes! Ioan! - Marlene, Jul/25/2001 23:11:20
I guess we can start clicking away again girls!
Let's get Michael ahead of Sobo!
Ioan Whats his name!----Sounds like a Mars person
from another galaxcy! Maybe the old Warner Bros.lot!
Re:Voting booth - Carol, Jul/25/2001 23:19:03
It must be one of those Florida voting booths!
I couldn't get into the voting booth either this past
weekend. A blank white page is all I got. I haven't heard
of some of the names that are getting the most votes.
Hello! Zan! Are You There???
Author: Marlene, Jul/25/2001 05:01:20
I'm knocking on the big green doors to Greyland!
As they open by themselves---I am sticking my head
in!
Zan---How's evrything in Paul Hogan's neck of the
woods? Haven't heard much from down under.
Maybe we should start another Michael The
Magnificent. We could call it----"What Happened to
Michael's votes at the Voting Booth"
Author: Marlene, Jul/25/2001 23:39:19
My server's playing games with me but I did get the
message of who Ioan is. I thought he was great in
"Hornblower--" I just didn't know his name.
Let's get Michael up there!!!!
THANKS CAROL!
Author: Sonja, Jul/26/2001 05:33:04
Gee gals....you are GREAT! Michael is doing very respectibly at the booth
now that it's up
and running again!
Tee-hee....Carol I ALSO wondered who the heck this 'Iaon' was...Thanks
for the explanation!
I've watched some of the Hornblower movies so that cleared the mystery
up immediately! I'm
not much of a fan though... in the first film Hornblower is supposed to
be a 17 yr old trainee
officer...but the guy looks 27 at LEAST!! It just didn't work for me!!*g*
Well..keep up the good work at the booth ladies!!
Hornblower needs some sun - Laurie, Jul/26/2001 10:57:41
What stuck in my mind about Ioan was seeing his pale, sunless Welsh backside
in one
scene. And thinking how a nice vacation on a Caribbean beach would've done
wonders
for the poor skinny fellow!! Not my cup o' tea, but to each her own i guess!!!
LOL
When will we see MG in a swashbuckelling role like this??
Laurie
Swashbuckling Michael!! - Sonja, Jul/27/2001 05:01:40
Tee-hee Laurie, a certain unfinished 'novel' comes to mind!!
Marnie's very own "The Captain's Captive"!! Marn, where's that great pic
of the
'Wench and the Pirate'?? It's up at yahoo.groups, right??
Yup, we have explored the possibilities of a Swashbuckling Michael, but
as far as I am
aware the actual 'Tall Tale' has not been written yet. So...time for another
'story'
girls??? *g*
Swashbuckling Michael????? - Marlene, Jul/27/2001 05:51:35
Sonja,
Do you mean Michael in tights and sword flying?????
Gee,somehow I can't see him as an "Erol Flyn" type.
Now a "Zorro" type I'd sure go for with our Michael
romancing all those beautiful Spanish gals in old
California. Maybe we could have him avenging the
untimely death of the Don's only son because the two
were so close as friends that the Don now considers
Michael as his son and here is born another"El
Zorro" Just a thought!!!
HORNBLOWER
Author: Deanna, Jul/27/2001 05:50:33
THERE is not limited on voting - If we all vote
for Michael 10 times each - WE can catch up with
this Hornblower fellow.
Down with Hornblower! - Marlene, Jul/27/2001 17:25:36
Thanks Deanna! I for one will get right on it!!!!
Hornblower - deanna..., Jul/27/2001 23:15:41
You are so RIGHT. When I first started voting he was in the single digits.
Whatever
happened to ZIg ZAG
Guess it zaged! - Marlene, Jul/28/2001 04:44:18
They said on the announcements that they would keep
us posted on curret news of "Zig Zag"
I guess it's like almost all of Michael's projects
-------they just keep things on hold!!!
Hope it comes out soon---Michael is so cute as Dale
in that darling white uniform with the red neck tie!
Voting Booth
Author: Marlene, Jul/30/2001 05:00:06
Well I just got a message that they are fixing the
the voting booth! Something or other broke or there
is an error!
It said try again later! So I guess that's all
we can do.
This is just one more thing that made my day rotten!
I read about Nicolas Cage getting all the glory for
his role in "Windtalkers" and not even a mention
of Adam Beach's work in the film.
MICHAEL! I HOPE YOU HAVE SOME FIREY WORDS FOR THIS
ONE MORE INDIAN CUT DOWN!!!!!!
One More Time With Feeling ... - Zan, Jul/30/2001 14:15:13
Okay, people -- I'M BACK !! I don't know some of you,
but welcome !! Always nice to have new admirers of
the Lord Hi-Greylander.
[Sonja, Marnie -- none of us old-timers have been
displaying good manners here: haven't noticed one plate
of cucumber sandwiches or muffins passed around, OR
the good china taken out to put Earl Grey(eyes) tea
in. SOOO -- I happen to have this new batch of muffins
(milk chocolate flavour) AND a fresh pot of Earl Grey
tea (the size of a bucket). Help yourselves while
I write.]
Been working away on my blinking thesis, spending at
least fourteen hours a day, every day (yes, weekends, too))
punching away at the keyboard and/or hunched over in
remote corners of the library. (Ever notice those places
smell like Crayolas ?) See, if I ever get my degree, I
might just be able to get a job that pays more than
monkey-nuts. (That isn't rude, you know. Just means
'peanuts'. Pass one of those muffins, please, before
they're just crumbs left.)
Now, I've seen all the 'Hornblower' episodes with that
lump of white sugar, Ioan. I have colleagues who
are of Welch extraction who think he's better than trocks,
(this, of course, is impossible). I personally think
the actor is ... well, BLAND !! Let's hope none
of his admirers show up here 'cause our guy could
absolutely wipe the floor in the acting stakes (not to
mention in the looks department)with that skinny, shortish,
pale BOY (and we could take care of his fans, eh ?).
So, an end to discussing Mr. Whitebread ...
Now, as much as I admire Adam (haven't yet seen the
film), it's always the way with production companies to
promote big names (like Nicholas Neurotic Cage) over
beauty and talent. sigh. Worse, things aren't likely
to change (as we saw with 'Skipped Parts'). The only
thing we can do is VOTE LIKE MAD wherever we can ...
AND castigate the buggers in charge of funding projects
(PRODUCERS) WHEN we buy their films/videos so they
know exactly why we're buying them (and it wasn't for
that tatty girl in 'Skipped Parts', either).
Somehow, I can't see MG as a swashbuckler ... well ...
maybe ... those tight trousers, high boots, deeply
cut shirts, gold earrings, him swinging on ropes across
enemy decks, involved in bodice ripping episodes ... Hmmmm -- this
begs thinking through, me thinks. We could do Michael
as second in command in a pirate crew that works a
bit like Robin Hood and his Merry Men.
For instance, they could stop His Majesty's ships and
return pressed sailors to their homes ... or divert
slave ships ... or ... or ... rescue damsels sent against
their wills to be married off to fat, old, flabby,
senile, ugly guys with warts and things who have lots
of gold dublooms and such (like big estates with wolf
hounds and peacocks running about) so their relatives
can live the lives they would like to become accustomed
to. I can see it!! Oh, Baby !!!
Any of you girls want to come onboard ?
(Would someone pour me a cuppa, please ? This is
thirsty work ...)
Tea or Grog? - Marlene, Jul/31/2001 06:43:08
Welcome back Zan! It's not polite to board your ship with
without presents--sooo here's some grog and trocks
from Neer land. The King of Neer is looking for that
handsome chap in leather that Marnie discibed.
It seems he has another erant for the chap who
rescued his daughter last year from the Evil lord
of Warick. You mates haven't seen the lad have you?
He sails under the(Roaring Lion)flag. I been
searching the seas for that chap. Would you mates
care to join me in searching for the High Greylander
? Marnie what is this wonderful sauce you have
served with the cuke sandwiches?
By the way that gold ear ring in the chap's ear was
given to him by the King of Neer.
Well enough of this grog---please pass the tea!
Welcome back! - Carol, Aug/1/2001 00:42:44
Yummmm! Chocolate flavored muffins, and story telling.
My favorite things!!!
Marlene's got us started on the Lord of the High Seas
Get out your water wings gals!!!
Where is everybody?????? - Marlene, Aug/2/2001 05:06:03
Hey,where did everyone go????
I know Carol is out there but what about the rest
of you guys??????
Carol, I really liked that"Lord of the High SEAS"
title.
If someone dosen't get on the message board soon,
I'll begin to feel like I've been cast adrift!
Re: Where is everybody?????? - Carol, Aug/3/2001 01:38:34
Maybe their waiting for Sat. chat??
Don't hog the tea pot!!! - Sonja, Jul/30/2001 18:07:45
Hey...welcome back Zan...we were wondering what had swallowed you up!! *g*
As to "Swashbuckling Michael", well yes, I too saw him, not in 'weedy'
Erol Flynn type
tights, but rather in leather pants, high boots, loose flowing open-to-the-navel
shirt,
earing, perhaps a bandana, sword in hand......ah dreams!! *g*
So, *slurping tea* you're not going to let a silly old thesis come between
you and an
MGfans-message-board-tea-party are you??!!! *g* Pass the muffins someone,
and lets
settle in to see if someone can start spinning a good old yarn!!
Wrong Gal! - Marlene, Aug/1/2001 04:45:07
'tis Sonja who sails with Zan. Sorry Sonja,I guess
I didn't have my sea legs as yet yesterday when I
boarded ship. I did have it right in the one my
server ate up! Or it might have been too much grog!
By the way, where is Marnie? Haven't heard from her
for awhile now!!!!
And a Hi! to Carol from me!
Re: Wrong Gal! - Sonja, Aug/2/2001 05:31:02
Our intrepid Marnie is away on family business, but I'm hoping she'll manage
to
pop in at intervals! In the meantime, you're stuck with....*gulp*....ME!
Now I don't know anything our clever Marnie knows about these pages, internet
hiccups, netiquete, etc. So if things go horribly wrong while she's away,
we're
pretty much "sunk" (well, we ARE on the subject of Pirates and ships, are
we
not?*g*) till she gets back and can air-lift (with the Wee Tarten Spaceship)
us
out of our troubles! *g*.
So while we await her return, here's a fresh pot of Earl Grey(eyes) and
a batch
of yummy trocks....and your ration of 'grog'!
Now...I take it we are all sailing the seven seas in a pirate ship? With
a rather
dishy looking "Captain"?? Tell me more!
Lord of the High Seas/Voting booth - Carol, Aug/2/2001 14:38:22
No time to waste writing today, I just noticed that
MG is only about 100 votes from the top. I will be
slamming the voting booth. Will think of some kind of
pirate begining, however I think possibly one of you can
'dream' up a start:)
a start?? - Nellie, Aug/3/2001 04:52:59
Well Manuela is a Puerto Rican dancer who is
running away to see Paco, her handsome fiance who
has been forcibly taken away to Spain. (unknown reason)
she stows away on a ship late one night, where
one other handsome longhaired man happens to be
on board.
uumm writer's block!!ideas, Marlene?
A Job for The Lord of The High Seas! - Marlene, Aug/3/2001 06:40:46
Sonja comes on deck to catch the early morning
breeze in her long beautiful hair. Suddenly the
deck hands are alerting Zan to come on deck to see
the two ships that stand on both sides of the "Wee
Scottie"(Zan's Ship)
"How did those two creep up on us last night Cap?
"Look at the flags boys!" Zan grins. "The Roaring
Lion" and "The Lone Wolf" Marlene has found The
High Greylander! Signal all to come on board."
Marlene comes on board with a beautiful run away,
named Manuela.
Suddenly the handsome captain of The Roaring Lion,
dressed in black leather pants and kneehigh boots
with large gold earing, swings on deck and stands
smiling at all. Sonja's heart flutters!
Zan motions for all to her cabin and asks Sonja to
serve some earl greyeyes tea.
"Who is your lovely stow away Wolf?" Michael asks.
"She is a lady in distress. Seems her fiancee was
taken away on board The Diago. She dosen't know
where they are taking him nor why he was placed
under arrest."
Michael considers the situation for a moment and
then flashes his dark dreamy eyes.
"Perhaps we can help! Wolf tells me that my new
misson for my King of Neer is to rescue his friend
Ioan on The Diago. We must give all this some
serious thought. Sonja, dear lady,do you have any
more of those delicious chocklate chip muffins?"
"Yes! Yes,Michael! I'll fetch them" Sonja sighs!
to be continued--------
-------on with Lord of The High Seas!!!!!!!! - Marlene,

The guests stayed on into the night preparing and
planing on how to rescue Ioan and Paco from the
hands of the Spanish when they do find The Diego.
Finally Zan calls it quits for the night and orders
a ration of grog be handed out to guests and crew.
Scottty Bry,the next in command takes to playing
his quitar. He is very good at it and soon there is
a party spirit on The Wee Scottie.
Sonja is looking out at the sunset and turns as
Michael approuches.
"Penny for your thoughts,Sonja!"
"Oh! Michael I was just wondering about the task
before us!"
"Not to worry,my dear friend! We will find a way!"
Sonja dwells on the word"Friend" But then she
smiles accepting the fact that Michael and she
would only be exactly that! She notices the crew are
becoming very loud. See sees Manuela coming
towards them.
"I have been told that you High Greylander are a
good dancer. Zan has told me that I should ask you
to join me in a dance of my native country."
Michael sees the anticipation in the dancer's eyes.
All eyes are on Michael and the crew are now calling
to him to accept. He takes the beautiful girl by the
hand and leads her to the center of the deck which
the crew has suddenly cleared.
Scotty Bry strums the strings on his quitar and
suddenly his music is on fire.
Michael takes his place back to back with Manuela
and they engage in the fiery dance with the girls
high heels stomping on the wooden deck and Michael's
feet gracefully stomping out the wild music to the
praises of the appreciative crew.
The dance ends with Michael's lips coming close to
Manuela's. The girls heart is pounding. Suddenly
Michael gently lifts the dancer to an upright
position and looks into her dark eyes.
"Manuela, thankyou for asking me for the dance. It
was fantastic. He walks the bewildered girl over to
Sonja and smiles at them both. "Ladies,I would like
to
escort you to your cabin. The crew are celebrating
to the highest deree and I would feel relieved if
I knew you were both safe in the cabin!"
Manuela could find no words but Sonja smiled and
looked up into the dark eyes that were so kind and
gentle and yet always lit a fire in ker heart.
"Thankyou Michael! That is so kind of you. We
will pray for the success of your mission."
Michael smiled and offered his arms to the ladies
who were then escorted off deck.----------
TO CONTNUE?????????? Please let me know! The
Wolf!
Letting you know - Nellie, Aug/5/2001 18:33:32
Seriously, l like this story!
Wonder what's in store for Manuela?
wait til Paco gets on that boat--
I know Where Zan is But-------------?????? - Marlene,
Aug/5/2001 19:55:25
I suppose Zan is lost in some dark corner of
the
library,working on her thesis---Better come
out on
deck Zan and get some sun!
Seeing I have heard only from Manuela,I mean
Nellie
------I'll take a chance with Lord of Yhe High
Seas-
-------------------------
Sonja and Mauela couldn't get any sleep with
the noisey crowd of drunken crew from all
three
ships. So they decided to set and talk a while.
" Sonja, who really is Michael? Where dose
he come from? He must know we are all
interested in
him! Why does he never react?" Manuela asks.
"The Wolf and Zan have known him the
longest. They said he is from the New World.
He is
Cree Indian and was caught up in a time warp
that
he can't find a way out of. Long ago The Wolf
sailed
with Zan as second in command of The Wee
Scottie.
They were pirates and went about the seas
rescuing
poor folks who were taken prisoners to
become slaves
On one adventure they raided a Spanish
Galleon and
got there just in time for a hanging. It seems
the Spanish were in the process of hanging
Michael.
They took over the ship, cut Michael down and
freed
the prisoners who told them that Michael had
tried
to set them free by killing the Spanish one by
one
with his concealed knife until overwhelming
odds had
stopped him. That gold chain and gold seal of
Neer
that he wears about his neck hides a bad rope
burn
scar. He always lets his long hair fall over it
also."
"But why does he never seek romance?"
"I have been told that Michael's heart was
given to a lucky girl back in future time who
lives
along the shore of a big lake somewhere in the
New
World!" Sonja sighs.
The two women chat on about Michael as they
hear
the crew on deck now singing themselves to
sleep.
No one on the three ships has seen the Spanish
Galleon that is anchored about two miles off!
