It's SatChat today! Sonja has pr-o-o-m-i-sed to be there (mind you she has said that before!LOl) I too will forgo Xmas shopping (any excuse to get out of it) and maybe I can harass Nessie into dropping by (OK not much chance of that...sigh) Hope some of you can make it ...as it's the list etc. fourth birthday! I'll bring champagne ...Sonja is on the cake (oh dear). and ...AND we can brainstorm for Chrissy messages for MG ...Carol ....another ode would be handy? (I'll try not to add an x-rated line or two! LOL)
Later then, Marnie

*  Re: SatChat - Sonja, Dec/9/2002 06:35:21 [-05 EST]

      *Sonja sitting in corner, covered in wet noodles, clutching her "Stewed Prune Award" for being the WORST MG fan in the history of MG fans*

      What can I say....people dropped by the house, and stayed, and stayed and STAYED! Oh woe is me! Shall I EVER make Satchat again??!!! *sob*

      I see I was supposed to bring the cake! *sniff*.
      Happy Birthday to us...*choke*

*  OHHHH! Sonja! - Marlene, Dec/9/2002 14:34:19 [-05 EST]

            And I love birthday cake with white frosting soooo-
            much! Well I,for one will forgive you.
            Say has anyone seen Nellie fooling around Greyland?
            If we don't hear from her soon on MB I'll get in
            touch by way of the old "Graham Bell"
            Happy Birthday everyone of MG fans!

*  I've had message board entry problems also - Carol, Dec/9/2002 23:53:28 [-05 EST]

                  not to mention falling through the trap door no less
                  than 3 times on Sat.

                  Message to Helen: You came to our Sat chat, but before Marnie or I could properly welcome you somehow
                  our computers kicked us out. I just wanted you to know that's what it was, as we were not leaving the
                  room because you showed up. Sometimes this happens, better known as falling through the trap door.

*  Missed you at chat..Sonja - Carol, Dec/10/2002 00:09:07 [-05 EST]

            And there I was with my trock delight, went through
            the trap door and..well let's just say I won't have to
            worry about those calories showing up on my hips!

*  Well Anyways-------------- - Marlene, Dec/10/2002 13:33:58 [-05 EST]

                  You gals are really having problems with falling
                  through the trap door. Reminds me of where Rev.
                  Talbert hid Tagaset in my story "The Chang------"
                  Tagaset(Michael)and Abigail had to put in their
                  time in Talbert's root cellar under the trap door.
                  TeeHee!------Glad I found Nellie well and happy and
                  she didn't fall through trap door!!!!!!

*  Falling through the trap door.. - Carol, Dec/10/2002 22:52:12 [-05 EST]

                        would be more pleasurable if Michael were there to catch
                        us.

                        I think Marnie fell on her head a few times. Try as I may
                        there was no way to stop it.

*  Carol------- You're soooo----right! - Marlene, Dec/11/2002 14:31:42 [-05 EST]

                              Think I'll try this-----------------------
                              #1------Go down the largest kid's slide at park 999
                              times.
                              #2------Take a taxi home with a wild taxi driver go-
                              ing 80 mi per hr. Drink your favorite liguoir.
                              #3------Stare at your best Michael Greyeyes photo
                              for at least two hrs. (THIS MUST BE DONE HANGING
                              OVER KITCHEN CABINET DOOR)
                              You should pass out by now and with a little luck
                              you'll dream of Michael catching you as you fall
                              through the darkess trap door imaginable. CHEERS!

*  Original idea Marlene - Carol, Dec/11/2002 23:44:24 [-05 EST]

                                    We only have water slides here and it is way to cold to go
                                    swimming, unless you are a hearty sort like Sonja or visiting
                                    from the colder parts of Greyland. Aaaaachew!!!
                                    After the taxi ride going 80 miles and hour (pretty expensive
                                    ride we took the scenic route)Sonja tried to pay taxi driver with
                                    bootlips and Gooches. Drove away mumbling something like
                                    "damn tourists"
                                    tanked up on too many 'Tokalah braverys'I am hanging over the
                                    kitchen sink not the kitchen cabinet. Uugghh choke gag!
                                    Marnie races over to hold my head. (Now I know who my real friends
                                    are!)Sonja sheds sweater made of lasagne noodles.(it got real
                                    soggy from the water slide.
                                    Pasted pictures of Michael on ceiling, only way we can
                                    savor photo. Sweet hangover, hiccup! I mean sweet dreams.

*  ROFL - Marnie, Dec/12/2002 05:39:08 [-05 EST]

                                          I MUST'VE hit my head going through the trap door...I've been sitting here trying to remember what day it is ...Thursday? Tuesday? Wednesday? ...and the only calendar I can find is the Native Visions one and it's 4 years out of date (besides being stuck on October ...well Mr. October is just so ....cute and, well, familiar! LOL) Sigh ...the messages for MG have to be in to the OS by the 15th ...and... and I don't know when it is ..two days? three days? he-e-elp
                                          Marnie
                                          PS besides, time flies when you are trapped in a basement with only Sonja's knickknacks for company!

*  Marnie!!! Wake up!! It's December 12,2002 - Carol, Dec/12/2002 12:18:57 [-05 EST]

                                                Carol puts smelling salts under Marnie's nose. "Come back
                                                to us!! Sonja, Marlene, Nellie, Christine ANYBODY HELP!"
                                                Marnie is lost in a time warp. Or been hypnotised by
                                                a point of focus Oct. 1999. It's a new millenium!
                                                Which reminds me Millenium,today, Marnie, Millenium today,
                                                you must set your VCR for the HI G! Your loyalty demands it!
                                                Michael commands it!(in a nice way)and I can't stands it!
Another siting that I will miss.

THE LOST CHILD - AN MG HAPPY SURPRISE!!
Author: Christine , Dec/9/2002 02:42:09 [-05 EST]

Dear MGers, To begin with, I'm having a wicked time with my WebTV and my screen: can barely read any text. However, I surprised the heck out of myself tonight. After seeing Skinwalkers, my mind told me to track down my tapes to find a beautiful story about a woman who discovers she has Navajo blood. Success: my VCR is weird but I had partially taped a story called The Lost Child (2000). It's a lovely film wih a great cast (I don't have the credits). But who should appear dancing in a few scenes and is married to one of the Navajo clan women but Our One and Only -- Michael Greyeyes! I nearly fainted. He looks beautiful and stands out in each scene he appears in. It was a Hallmark production (Hallmark.com) and the tape can be purchased. I love the film and the Navajo "messages" throughout. Oh, if you want to buy Indian Fry Bread, it can be bought at the National Museum of the Native American, NYC. They made some in the story. It's very good, quick and easy to make. Nellie: that was a fascinating note. Also, I, too, have had and am still having trouble getting into the Message Board. Plus a lousy TV screen (sorry). Love to MG, his family and fan family. Try to see this movie. I want to buy Crazy Horse and we must all have Stolen Women... somehow. Take care.
Christine

      Glad you enjoyed it Christine,it's always fun to come across MG unexpectedly (don't know how good it is for the heart though, lol) for some info about "The Lost Child" that we gleaned at it's release check out the archives from October 2000 on
      October archive
      as I recall we even had the author post a couple of times!
      toodles for now, Marnie

*  THE LOST CHILD/ARCHIVES--AND DON'T FORGET 12/21/02. - Christine..., Dec/9/2002 18:28:12 [-05 EST]

            Thanks loads, Marnie, for the Archives' info. Really fascinating, but I'm very unhappy to have missed so many of MG's films, esp., Crazy Horse (one of my true heroes -- a great spiritual leader). And, now, no more CH Videos -- cruel. Am still having WebTV problems. I thought MG looked familiar in Eric Roberts' Race Against Time (hope I have the correct film). Would rather have MG in roles where he can be as versatile as possible rather than be stuck in a weekly series (tho' the $$ would be terrific). But would love to see him, also, as Chee in the Hillerman stories. Was able to read a little of Lost Child criticism which I didn't think was fair. People living close to the earth and in simpler circumstances can be, do, feel, speak, think in ways that so many city folks lose after awhile. I read a few years ago that some, just a few, concentration camp survivors went to live with the Hopi Nation. In other words, they went to live in America, not The United States. I find that very interesting. There are books on that subject, but I don't know their titles, etc. There's so much reading to catch up on in this wonderful WebSite, if my screen ever clears up. Thanks again for the info.
            And toodles to you too,
            Christine

*  When this movie first aired... - Carol, Dec/9/2002 23:59:42 [-05 EST]

      I had missed a small part where Michael is dancing. It
      wasn't until I purchased the movie that I saw it. All
      I could think of was why didn't they show more of the dancers,
      they were all really good.
      Did anyone catch a segment on National Geo.
      this past weekend of Robert Mirabal? I did capture it and have it
      on the end of my latest MG tape.

STOLEN WOMEN/True Story--Yes/No?
Author: Christine , Dec/9/2002 20:31:33 [-05 EST]

That great piece I just read about that Stolen Women... research is just wonderful. It does seem to me that any woman captured by men anywhere on this sad planet must/will suffer horribly at their hands. It seems logical that this must have happened to our heroines. Being female is really not that much fun being unsafe from the cradle to the grave. Then, at the same time, the Native men, Nations, were unhappy about the deadly Anglo diseases which were killing off an entire population of this country (measles, whooping cough, smallpox, you name it...). There were no viral diseases here until dear ol' Columbus entered onto the scene, et al. I do know that if a Native man just touched an Anglo's woman's shoulder, she was contaminated for life. I dislike John Wayne's and John Ford's movie, The Searchers, which I feel is a great anti-Native American movie. My memory's poor but Wayne, in one scene, finds a dead Mescalero? warrior hidden within some rocks since the tribe had no time to rescue the corpse. Wayne takes his gun and shoots the dead warrior in his eyes so that he would be condemned to wander in the "void" for all eternity unable to find his way. This scene really bothered me and I never wanted to see Wayne's or Ford's movies ever again. Also, Wayne was going to kill his sister?, Natalie Wood, who had been captured and was now contaminated. Swell. And -- ohhhhh -- saw a Native American program, back in the late '80s or early '90s, where a no. of actors, et al, with Native bloods had things to say. The late? Will Sampson was the host. Ben Johnson, who appeared with Wayne in some of the John Ford's epics, spoke quite angrily (I kid you not) about having to make these type of films with Wayne. Johnson had a female ancestor who suffered horribly on one of the "great Death Marches" (2000 mi.) to the camps in Oklahoma, I believe. I recall that an Anglo soldier took pity and at some point, she was rescued by him and later they married.
He was furious as if it had happened recently. But -- pain never goes away really. Then too, Johnson wanted to be an actor. On another talk show some years later, he was more subdued. Other actors, et al, with mixed bloods (who hasn't?), had unpleasant tales to be told. I have that Custer book--Life on the Plains--I'll dig it up. Thanks for reminding me. I truly detest Custer w/his golden curls. I had written before that Mrs. Custer wrote some fascinating books about her hubbie. I read one and it was truly interesting. But the Native peoples were starving, dying of diseases, their women being victimized, losing their country, etc. Then, too, Native peoples were not Christians, therefore, not impotant -- does that one ring any fat bells??? And there are some books where captured Anglo women found happiness within the Native world. But, the brutality of men will exist forever, I fear. The Anglos were very, very brutal too. They won!
Toodles (I love that!),
Christine
I do go on: sorry -- but Louis L'Amour, the cowboy writer whom I truly adore much to my surprise, insists that pioneer women were much safer back then than they are today. He's a fabulous historian and a good storyteller, but I think he over romanticizes the Wild West and the Gary Coopers were all nice guys. I doubt it. Read L'Amour's Haunted Mesa about parallel worlds, Hopi/Anasazi 3rd/4th worlds, the 4 Corners.... Great fun. Would make a fabulous movie. We could slip MG in it too.

*  In Greyland if we don't like the ending to one of Michael's movies.. - Carol, Dec/10/2002 00:04:01 [-05 EST]

      we just rewrite it.
      So Christine, if you ever feel the urge to rewrite one
      of MG's movies or start a new tale go right ahead. We'll
      all help.

*  MG REWRITES COMING UP!! - Christine..., Dec/11/2002 00:57:19 [-05 EST]

            Don't worry -- I'll do rewritea galore and will be happy for everyone to help out. Who knows, maybe we'll write a script for Our One and Only. Without some "healthy" fantasy, I feel life would be even worse than it is already. Yes? But it must remain healthy and not damaging to anyone. I feel in my deep heart that the ending in Stolen Women... just may be the real thing. It did happen, as noted before, in the Wild West. Of course, what was before them were the Reservations, but they could have been on the run forever which was done too -- just disappear further westward or head toward the Canadian wilds. And Anna would have suffered gladly to be with him and had become Native herself. Love the line when MG told her he had shown her a better life. I'm afraid I agree with him. It was a harsh, even brutal, life but, in its way a richer life. Not to be too overly romantic, I am thinking of America before, say, the 1400s: superb, varied food supply, superb game, superb forests and what the forests could give to the population (medicines, etc.), superb water supply (and clean too) with superb fish supply and the SW Natives knew about dry farming which I cannot grasp myself. (I am madly in love with the the Anasazi culture, pottery, their dwellings), and America had the Ozone layer back then. Wow! I read somewhere that the Anasazi had "roads" which can be seen only from the air. These "roads" seem to go all the way to the Ancient Aztec civilization. Gotta read more about this. The Native peoples, on the whole, lived longer lives. Europeans died off very young thanks to diseases, poor food supply and just rotten times in general.

            I digress. I just want a Happy Ending for everyone, especially for women in general. Anyway, Native people knew how to survive in the wilderness. I loved the scene when the other girl (forgotten her name!?) told Anna she had to return to her love or die. Terrific. Maybe, I'm a romantic after all. And -- I am still reeling from Dr. Stone in Skinwalker. I just love that film, but I was really surprised. Would love to have the Stolen Women... tape. All I want for Christmas is the MG tape(s).
            Christine
            Oh -- if my last message printed 2x, I apologize. Maybe, the WebMasters can delete the extra one. I'm going crazy with my WebTV and the lousy screen.
            Cheers

Is it beginning to feel a lot like Christmas?
Author: Sonja, Dec/11/2002 00:36:25 [-05 EST]

Sounds like you all had fun at Satchat....*sulk*. New decree.....NO fun will be had in Greyland without Sonja! *wink*!
Anyhoo, thank you all for forgiving me....all except Marnie, who is convinced I'm simply playing with her mind and has told me I am a very bad Sonja.....who, ME?? As punishment for her cruel thoughts I have her working double time on a Greyland Christmas idea which promises to be MG-grrrrrreat! So any care-packages for her to be sent to the basement, where she is once again chained to her computer, fingers bleeding, blah blah blah......

*  a very, very bad Sonja! - Marnie, Dec/12/2002 05:26:04 [-05 EST]

      yes I have been working away...like a good girl, (unlike some *gulp*)and with any luck the Chrissy surprise should be ready by ...ooh ...next year some time.
      In the meantime just a quick reminder for those in Canada that MG's 'Millenium' episode will shown a couple of times on the 12th and his episode of "Harsh Realm" is airing on the 22nd! It's so sad that SA just never seems to get these ...teehee.
      I'm off back to the basement, Marnie

            no problem!

            Yes, they sure are happy about celebrating the baby's first

Michael Greyeyes in "Skinwalkers" comment: he never gets due credit in the "credits" in his work. This was an important part. I think his name should be mentioned right up there with Adam Beach and Wes Studi. Just my opinion. And a 58 year old grandma has her opinions!

      Perhaps his name wasn't right up with Adam's and Wes' because it would have been too much of a tip off to 'whodunnit'? We were lulled into thinking he was a minor character ...and then 'blam!' Right between the eyes! LOL...
      He was certainly excellent in that last scene ...some of his finest acting ...you could see all the 'anguish of years' in his face when he turned away from Chee. He definitely deserves high praise and credit for his performance!

*  A Greyeyes Christmas 2002 - Carol, Dec/19/2002 13:08:25 [-05 EST]

                  Christmas doesn't always include Santa & elves,
                  rather a time of renewal forgiving others and selves.
                  Comes the birth in our hearts of peace, joy and love,
                  telling friends and relatives they are well-thought-of.
                  The best gifts are not found under the tree,
                  for once there were two now there are three.
                  With mommie's bright eyes and daddy's great smile,
                  Eva Rose came to live at the Greyeyes a while.
                  Grandma's and granpa's gaze down with adorn,
                  on the new little babe cuddled safe and warm.
                  It's baby's first Christmas, and what a delight,
                  the whole family strains from buying everything in sight.
                  What's really important is that we are all safe and sound.

                              That was lovely carol ...it'a really warm picture you painted! 'Course...little do you know you've also been instrumental in the Greyland Christmas page ...we just have to actually get around to announcing it now, well...Sonja's so shy you know! LOL

*  Carol's Ode....AND a Greyland Christmas - Sonja, Dec/20/2002 04:14:38 [-05 EST]

                                    Oh, a wonderful Ode, Carol! This is what we love to see....Greylander's letting their creative juices flow!

                                    As to a Greyland Christmas...who are you calling 'shy' Marn? Aren't I the woman who shamelessly leaves her photo-image to the mercy of your twisted imagination (which co-incidentally matches my own *chuckle*). And anyway...although we're both used to everyone spying 'pics' of us on the net, this will be the first time they will hear our...*gulp*...VOICES!! So, please all excuse us if we are taking a wee while to tweak our Greyland Christmas surprise to perfection this year! T'will be up for you all to view very, very soon!

A "Greyland" Christmas!
Author: Sonja & Marnie, Dec/21/2002 13:13:19 [-05 EST]
Homepage: A "Greyland" Christmas

The Silly Season is upon us and of course, Sonja & Marnie just HAD to be 'silly'! *g* Check out our Christmas page made especially for all you fans :

http://members.attcanada.ca/~highlndr/xmas02.html

But WAIT.....!!!!!! You MUST have your SPEAKERS switched on...and you will have to be quite PATIENT with the page...first time it takes quite a while to load and does not play through smoothly...let it run through the whole sequence a couple of times and then it should be fine! It's not over till you see 'The End' on the screen.

Believe it or not...that is Marnie and her sisters singing the "Huron Carol"...I kid you not!! Didn't know we had such a songbird in Greyland did you? Well she's not getting out of doing Midnight Mass this year! I say we all assemble at 11:30pm, 24 Dec, at the Greyland Cathedral next to Mooseheart Manor and get her to do a 'live' performance! *g*!! What say ye all?

You will also hear Marnie and I with a wee message for you...wonder if you can guess which voice belongs to whom....AND of course there is a THIRD voice in there...which could be...well...just about ANYBODY!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!
Sonja & Marnie

*  Marnie and Sonja - Marlene, Dec/21/2002 14:20:24 [-05 EST]

      I JUST LOVED,GREYLAND CHRISTMASS! The voices were
      great,including Havoc.
      THANKS for all the hard work put into it. I saved it
      for,forever listening.
      Was that Carol at the end? Thanks again.gals.

            What? ....With that Australian (by way of South Africa) accent. That was our dear Sonja ...who was silly enough to send me a tape last year ...which just gave me ammo! teehee. Hey, I can have her in mini-movies all year!
            'Twas thanks to Carol who had MG say a few kind words to us ...made it a special Christmas message, huh?
            Well, best get off and warm me tubes up for 'Midnight mass' ...better start now ...they do say brandy is good for that LOL
            Marnie
            PS Havoc took only one take ...Sonja made me do take after take after take....sheesh ...glad I'm not in HER class! LOL

*  Marnie - Marlene, Dec/23/2002 12:52:26 [-05 EST]

                  I better get to recognize those different accents.
                  When I first came to So Dakota,my New England accent
                  was greatly appreciated and then on later visits
                  back there,the folks said I talked like a cowhand.
                  I guess they watch too many westerns--Ha!
                  As to our Carol helping to get Michael's voice on
                  the Christmas message- that was great. He sounded
                  wonderful. I'm putting my manuscript of"Echo of An
                  Angry God" on disks for the publisher and every
                  time I read a line that Joel(Michael)is saying, I
                  picture how it would sound coming from Michael.
                  Well when you gals sing at Mid-Night Mass,don't
                  fall out of the choir loft.TeeHee!

*  Thanks, gals - Sonja, Dec/24/2002 01:38:08 [-05 EST]

            Glad y'all are enjoying the page! We just have so much fun thinking these things up. Then Marnie has to do all the hard work! *g*! Merry Christmas all, hope you are all with the people you love tomorrow!

Michael Greyeyes Was Wonderful in True Women
Author: Christine , Dec/22/2002 00:34:19 [-05 EST]

Thanks to you too, Vicki & Jan. Please forgive any typing errors; my TV is just about kaput. MG was magnificent in True Women. I'm repeating myself again, but MG's eyes, his presence are so intense and he takes full command the screen. Was almost sorry Delaney didn't run away with the proud Commanche. MG's last scene was so powerful. It's heartrending to see this brave warrior reduced to being in a Wild West Show. It reminds me of a passage I have in a book about Thomas Hart Benton, the famous American Regionalist Painter, who saw his hero, Geronimo, whom he had drawn romantic cowboy & Indian pictures as a boy. He saw the Great leader at a Fair, I believe, and he was shocked to see Geronimo, after years of incarceration, was like a walking dead man. It's very moving and MG was able to convey this perfectly and also be the same proud young warrior when he was given the horse. Brought tears to my eyes. A touch here of concentration camp victims' experiences and reactions. MG's a fabulous actor. It's a fine movie with very important historical themes. MG should be very proud of this film. Happy Christmas to all again and prayers for 2003.
Blessings and love,
Christine

*  Christine, I agree! - Marlene, Dec/22/2002 13:38:04 [-05 EST]

      I watched "True Women" again last night and like in
      all of Michael's fine work, I never get tired of
      watching my tapes over and over.
      Yes,it must have been very hard for Geronimo. I
      believe Sitting Bull and Red Cloud suffered in the
      same way,plus many other Indians.
      Getting back to Michael's fine performance,
      especially in the last scene,I think excellence is
      had when you have an actress and actor who put all
      their talent into their work and (no stealing the
      scene)stuff because,I guess they are humble enough
      to feel the aura of real talent from each other.
      I wonder if Michael would agree with this?
      Anyway-enjoyed your message. Have a great holiday
      season,Christine, and all!

*  True Women/Sitting Bull/Red Cloud/Native Museum in NYC - Christine..., Dec/27/2002 06:29:13 [-05 EST]

            Thanks Marlene for the reply. My WebTV screen has had it, so I'm typing sort of blind.

            I didn't know about Sitting Bull and Red Cloud. Will look it up. When the Native Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) opened up here in NYC, being a Chartered Member, I went on the 2nd opening day, Saturday. Wall Street area is nice on weekends. I was so moved, I had a good cry; it was wonderful, so fantastic (and free in NYC, yet). They even left precious Native American artifacts out in baskets in the Library. I told them that this is NYC, and folks will just help themselves. The computers are fascinatng too. In one there was the Delaware language. I nearly dropped dead seeing the words for dog, bird, tree, etc., where each word almost took up a whole page. I admire MG, Graham Greene, et al, having to learn the Native tongues for their films -- Wow!! But what I wanted to "say" was that I was told that Sitting Bull's great-great? grand niece was there. I had hurt my r. leg and was limping pretty badly. Well, I limped all over the Museum and never caught up with her. I was so sad, but thrilled that she was there. It was a wonderful day. Also, not far from WTC too. Look up the Museum in the Net -- it's terrific. And -- I envy you having tapes of MG. Lucky you. I must find Stolen Women or my blood vessels will burst. (Ha!) I just can't get over his intense eyes, his expressions, his strength comes right off the screen. I think the Delaney woman should have run away with Tarantula. What the hey? By the way, you have a great name. Happy New Year, I hope.
            Christine

*  Christine - Marlene, Dec/27/2002 14:22:48 [-05 EST]

                  First of all,you're right, Michael and the other
                  Native American actors and actresses sure did a
                  wonderful job learning other native tongues,other
                  than their own. Costner and Mary Mc D- did a great
                  job with Lakota also in "Dances with Wolves"
                  The lady that taught them is a teacher
                  at one of the colleges on Pine Ridge rez.
                  NMAI sounds like a great museum. I went to a museum
                  way up there in NYC by the Central Park,years and
                  years and years ago TEEHEE! I think it was called
                  Museium of the American Indian. As you probably
                  already know, the government took all of Crazy
                  Horse's things and put them in the Smithsoniam. They
                  did this because there were no direct desendents--
                  only extended family. The Oglala are still trying
                  to have his things returned to them at Pine Ridge,
                  South Dakota. But no go,at least,for now.
                  A pipe belonging to him is at Crazy Horse Memorial
                  in Custer and I WAS LUCKY TO SEE HIS SCALP SHIRT
                  in a little museum in NEBRASKA and I cherish the
                  memory of seeing HIS WAR HAT WITH RED TAIL HAWK in
                  that NY museum long,long ago.
                  Sorry you didn't get to see Sitting Bull's desen-
                  dent. We have a living treasure in 90-some year old
                  Oliver Red Cloud. He's a desendent of the great
                  chief.
                  Now as to Michael's eyes-----hell he sends me into
                  never-never land everytime I see them. Don't you
                  just get warm all over when he smiles and looks
                  right-straight into the camera. Ok,I'll stop for
                  now. TEEHEE!
                  PS: Even though Crazy Horse was only about 5'10" or
                  so and Michael Greyeyes is 6'3" tall, I think
                  Michael was wonderful as Crazy Horse and Irene
                  Bedard was great as Black Buffalo Woman in Turner's
                  movie that was filmed here in S.D.

*  Marlene, You Really Know Your Stuff... - christine..., Jan/2/2003 08:41:09 [-05 EST]

                        Your message reply noted here is fantastic. You really have some fab info here. I have a broken TV and reading text is terrible. Mercury has gone into Retrograde 1/02/03 until 1/22/03 and I go crazier than I am already and my TVs, everything I have crashes on me.

                        The American Indian Museum used to be at 155 Street on upper Broadway near Riverside Drive (the Hudson River). Don't know what's there now. It's a beautiful area and a Museum complex also (the Spanish Museum which is terrific, et al), but it's dangerous too, but where is there safety now? It was a great Museum; scan the new museum website. They sell glorious jewelry (Navajo is my fav) but insanely priced, and Indian Fry Bread which comes in a box and is tasty (was about $5.00). The Fry Bread was given to the prisoners at Bosco Redondo camp in Arizona, I think. I believe the Navajos were death marched there, forget the year -- 1870s? That prison was a Death Camp. It was only a 300 mi. march, the other death marches were 2,000 mi. That was brought out somewhat in True Women. But I wish I had seen all those things you mentioned.

                        And I still wish that the Delaney woman had run away with Tarantula. I'll never forgive her. Ha!
                        Blessings,
                        Christine

                        Oh -- I keep forgetting where the Crazy Horse Memorial is -- ND? That website is great too. I love Crazy Horse, a great spiritual leader also. Must see MG in that role. I won't live long enuff to see that sculpture finished. I'll have to return somehow. Ha!

*  Hi Christine - Marlene, Jan/2/2003 18:23:37 [-05 EST]

                              The Crazy Horse Memorial is in Custer,SD. They are
                              really making progress on it. A mild winter helps
                              out with the progress. And we are having a good
                              winter so far. They are working on the horse's head
                              now,so maybe you and I will still be around to see
                              the mountain carving complet.
                              Hope that TV scene of yours holds out.

*  Thankd for Crazy Horse Memorial Info...But I Need an MG Fix, Great Spirit!! - christine..., Jan/4/2003 05:56:16 [-05 EST]

                                    Thanks Marlene, for that info; of course, it is on that website which is fascinating. It's good to know that i's speeding along, but I thought that SD weather was deadly in winter. But didn't realize that it was in this place called Custer. Good grief. Don't care for Custer at all. Had mentioned before that I read a book by Mrs. Custer about her beloved hubbie and it was fascinating. But he's a weird one alright, reading between lines. I have Life on the Plains and I'll pull it soon. It's such a tragic time tho'. And I'll have to buy a TV I guess. Phooey. Hope MG and his family are well. The site seems like it's going to be expanded. Nice but hard work. Take care of yourself. 1/03 was my Birthday and that's why I felt I wouldn't make it to see CH finished. Depressing. I told J&V that I was older than MG, but his darling wife just has to live with all this wild adoration. I'm sure she will understand.Good Luck with the book -- very exciting. And with your PC too.
                                    Christine

*  Happy Birthday Christine! - Carol, Jan/5/2003 11:26:55 [-05 EST]

                                          I remember seeing something as a little girl,that someone
                                          was carving out a memorial to Crazy Horse. At that time
                                          they speculated that it would take 40-50 years to complete,
                                          as it was just this one guy and his family. I have seen what
                                          they've done so far and wonder if I'll be around to see it's
                                          completion.

*  Carol and Christine - Marlene, Jan/6/2003 14:05:03 [-05 EST]

                                                I feel so very fortunite to be living close to
                                                Crazy Horse Memorial. I'm able to see the progress
                                                first hand. Take my word for it,they are really
                                                progressing nicely. Of course you probably already
                                                know they plan furthur for more buildings
                                                in the future years to come. Yes,I hope we will all
                                                be around for the total,final,completion.
                                                Even though Ruth(the scultor's wife) may be with her
                                                husband at that time, I'm sure their children and
                                                grand children will have a big dedication event.
                                                I hope Michael,Wes,Irene and all the others that
                                                gave us such fine proformances in the movie will be
                                                there also as honored guests.
                                                I just got to tell you all this little story. When
                                                I lived in Colorado,I use to come up to the Black
                                                Hills every vacation time with my children,four and
                                                seven. This was in the sevevties. Well,I was
                                                traveling south from Rapid to Custer when I almost
                                                had a collision with an RV trailer that had jack-
                                                knifed across the road. Just before I came to that
                                                near fatal spot,I,for some unknown reason,took my
                                                foot off the brake and slowed down. Therfore,I was
                                                able to stop without flipping over.
                                                I was still shaking very bad when I saw a sign up
                                                ahead with an arrow,left,to Crazy Horse Memoerial.
                                                I had written a story on the life of the great
                                                leader and when I saw the name,Crazy Horse,I drove
                                                in to that place for protection,I guess.
                                                Anyway,from that day on Crazy Horse has been my
                                                protector. Maybe some folks would call him a
                                                guardian angel. His spirit sure has been there
                                                for me at several tough and dangerous times in
                                                my life.

*  Happy Belated Birthday,Christine! - Marlene, Jan/6/2003 14:12:48 [-05 EST]

                                                Carol,I still got the last word.TEEHEE! Ok,I'll

Sunshine State
Author: Marnie , Dec/23/2002 07:18:54 [-05 EST]

I see 'Sunshine State' is available for rent at the video outlets.(You know...the one where MG plays Billy Trucks.) Spotted the DVD ...but as it was 'himself' choosing the movie we actually got 'Spiderman'. My turn next ...hmmm my 'spidey-senses' are tingling ...guess I know what we're renting next time! LOL
So is it worth renting? (What am I saying ...'course it is...MG is in it!!!)
Marnie:)

*  Sunshine State - Jeri, Dec/29/2002 14:36:24 [-05 EST]

      Yes it is Marnie!!

      The movie itself is definitely quirky and takes a little
      getting used to. Michael, of course, is great, there just
      aren't enough scenes with him!

      Surprised me though hearing Michael say lines like "they're
      down at the local titty bar" LOL!!

      ~Jeri~

*  WHAT???? - Marlene, Dec/29/2002 18:16:13 [-05 EST]

            JERI,
            Glad you reported on "Sunshine State". Sort of hard
            imagining Michael having that line but then he had
            to deliver some ruff lines in "Shipped Parts" also.
            But when you're earning your bread and butter acting
            and the script calls for certain lines what's a guy
            to do?
            MARNIE,
            Probably,you,like myself,will rent it just
            to see Michael,however little of him we see in the
            thing.----Right????

*  Somehow I don't remember him saying that line. - Carol, Dec/30/2002 20:46:16 [-05 EST]

                  When I saw the movie in the theatre, I enjoyed the whole thing.
                  Especially the lines that Michael said.

                  Maybe you just gotta live here to appreciate the humor in it.

*  Carol - Marlene, Dec/31/2002 15:34:28 [-05 EST]

                        You might be right! I think I'll fly over to the
                        orange groves in Marnie's little greyland space ship
                        and take you out to lunch.We can go to some swingin'
                        places HEY? TEEHEE! I do intend to rent the movie.

*  Abolutely!! - Jeri, Jan/23/2003 18:53:17 [-05 EST]

                  Anytime Michael's in a movie, I'll rent it. He's not in a lot
                  of scenes, but he sure looks good in the ones he's in!! WooHoo!

                  LOL! Jeri

He sounds clear probably because the soundwave editor let me cut out some of the background hum...and, of course, because of our wonderful tape recorder operator (that's you, btw.) Have to say I was so tempted to make a whole movie of the search for the digital camera button ...MG shows he has a real sense of humour!(Not to mention is great with fans, huh?)
            Toodles, Marnie:)

                  I forgot you have all that wonderful equipment to edit
                  out the background. They were cleaning up in the background,
                  things slamming and banging around.
                  I liked the Christmas Carol also. What choir was that?

                        teehee...rather bashful now ...'Twas me, me sister Nessie, me other smarter, older sis and me Mum (musn't forget my childhood chum Karen on the organ) It's the 'Huron Carol' we're having a bash at and was taped at a Midnight Mass a good few years ago. Ah the wonders of editing ...managed to chop out the shuffling of feet, crashing of kneelers ...and all the consumptives!! (You ever notice how many people develop a cough in a crowded space?) LOL

My friends and I are gonna celebrate by putting funny
hats on our pets, making weird sounds with noise makers,
(we'll probably scare the daylights out of them) Then
run outside to see the fireworks, and try to discern which
ones are gun shots.Hee hee

Another year gone???? 2002 was eventful for me with
having a heart attack and blowing up my old pc. HA!
I'm looking forward to 2003 and finally publishing
"Echo of An Angry God" I'm so thankful to Michael
for inspiring me to create the main character by
being the type of person he is and for the
encouragement he gave me in his thankyou card.
So to Michael and all his fans all over the world
and to Jan&vickie I say---------
A VERY HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

      I keep saying my TV screen is rotten; can't read text really. But I'm sorry about your heart attack. Take COQ10 which is excellent for the heart. Look up Willner's, the vitamin store, NYC, in the website. They can send you a catalogue; they have great sales. I'm always broke (sorry) and sales are necessary. I'm trying to avoid the heart mess myself, and that catalogue also has superb articles regarding health stuff. Magnesium is good for the heart too. Sorry to go off topic here (O/T), but health and $$ are very important for women especially.

      Your book sounds great. Bless MG for his kindness too: what a pure gem he is. Yes, we both swoooooon over those eyes of his. He pops right off the screen. I mentioned this morning that Skinwalkers is to be repeated, maybe, 1/08/03, but I have little info. We'll see.

      I pray for a wonderful 2003 also, but I am a little worried about this year. But -- Happy New Year again and May God Watch Over this Little Blue World -- Please.
      Blessings,
      Christine

                  Marlene, It's no problem. I'm a natural worry bird. At least you have a heart. I sometimes think I'm an Android.

                  Take care.
                  Christine
