Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

[*]   Deserted - Marnie, Dec/3/2001 19:17:27

No....but I'm sitting in the corner sulking 'cos Sonja is off to Oz leaving this message board orphaned! Some people just don't have their priorities right! LOL Mind you ...she did drop in chat on Saturday ...(at 4 in the morning for her) with Zany Zan at her side (pouring her coffee, no doubt and supplying matchsticks for her eyes!) ...so ...harrumph....where were you? Marnie drumming fingers!

[*]   Vacation Gal! - Marlene, Dec/4/2001 06:48:41

I forgot about Sonja visiting Zan. They must be
having a great time down there. As for me, I was in
Rapid as usual on Sat. I think I'm in a rut!!!
            Instead of"I've fallen and can't get up-----it's--
I'm in a rut and I can't get out!" TEEHEE!
Well no need to look for Zan in Greyland again,
seeing she and Sonja are in OZ!
            TTYL,

Have you seen?

Author: Marlene, Dec/6/2001 06:46:27

The Dec. issue of Cowboys&Indians is out and they
list the greatest Westerns ever made.
Can you believe "TRUE WOMEN" didn't make it nor
SWCH???
I don't know about you but I thought"True Women" was
worthy of this honor. How could they ignore the
great acting in it? That included Michael in the
final scenes as an old man.
Of course one consolation is that Wes Studi got an
honor he richly deserved. Graham got his picture in
the mag because of Costner's "Dances With Wolves"
OH well, hope Michael got all his work done at
Kent State and will get some more great parts in
Westerns as well as moderns and be noticed for the
great talent he has.

And yup....I'm back from "Down Under"...missed ya all, but did spend some time with the 'zany' Zan, her long-suffering husband, and her two dogs! We had a BALL! Amazing what transpires when two MG fans get together! LOL!! Pity we all live so far apart....an 'MG Convention' would be a BLAST!

Thanks for the welcome back, Marlene! And if you think those SP pics on the OS were an exciting Christmas surprise, wait till you see what MARNIE has cooked up for you all! (Well, I have to admit Marnie is not entirely to blame...there are a few 'quirks' in the "surprise" for which I must humbly own up to! *grin*)
So, watch for an announcement soon! *Sonja chuckling with delight*!

Achtung!!SWCH
Author: Marnie , Dec/12/2001 06:13:56

Hi all, Someone posted in the MTV book that there's a German copy of SWCH available at amazon.com..." it is only available on VHS in the PEL format from Germany. If you have a VHS player that uses the PEL format, you can go to the IMDB through amazon.com and purchase it; although you will have to pay for shipping from Germany."
Thought some of you might be interested...especially those using those using the same format! Marnie:)

[*]   German SWCH - Laurie, Dec/12/2001 15:47:15

Marnie i saw that too on the German amazon site. there's something written in german,i asked a lady at work what it meant. She says it reads: this video is not currently available and to check back every now and again to see if it's available again.

She's an absolute sweetheart as well as a terrific singer. We
bought her CD, Winter Moon, and have been enjoying it ever since.
Also met her hubby, Darrell Dennis, who played Frank Fencepost
on the TV show, The Rez.

Couldn't have asked to meet two nicer young folks.

Excuse the "babatjie Hollands", but someone once described Afrikaans as a kind of 'baby Dutch'!! LOL!
Your webpage is lovely....I checked it out. My son Sean is over there right now! In Amsterdam visiting friends, speaking his 'baby Dutch' :) and generally having a great time, he says!

[*]   Thanks Sonja, are YOU Afrikaans?... - Marjon..., Jan/2/2002 17:44:40

            I agree!
Afrikaans is a little like Dutch, and ofcourse that is not so strange because i understand there where a lot of Dutch there so it comes form Dutch doesn't it?
Thanks for the compliment about the site you, and the otehrs who said so, but it really is just a very amaturistic little homepage!
I cannot even have a guestbok there, maybe one day when i have something otehr then a dinosaur of a pc and more memory, i will try to have a bigger one!
I would like to have a section about favourite native actors but don't know where to get photo's to use, but i think i can get them from Webshots(free down;load and use of pictures).
I allso want to add in the future(new pc, scanner) add a page with drawings i made!
Well, LOL, as you see i have big plans!
I like going to Amsterdam too, for one day and then get the heck out of there!!
Too buisy, too crowded and so on...
Go and visit Rotterdam sometimes, great modern city with the largest ports in the world, great to go on a boat trip!!!

Hi Guys,
remember that MG is scheduled to appear on the "Wolfman" show this weekend (check the TV page for times)...I know, I know ...only good for those that get APTN...not that we like to rub it in or anything, teehee. OK ...want more bad news? As you know MG's episode of 'Mythquest' is scheduled to be on PBS on the 20th....but we're hearing that it's not being shown in all areas...ack! It doesn't look like it's being shown where I get the feed from ...but everyone check and see if it is on in yours and let us know. It will be shown again on Showcase in Canada ...but we have to wait a bit for it.

Cooking with the Wolfman
Author: Marnie , Jan/13/2002 17:22:23

Hi guys,
For all those who didn't get chance to see MG on "Cooking with the Wolfman" ...commiserations, for as always he was a treat to watch! OK ...so they had to have three tries at the Hopi Flat Bread.... but it was fun to see that not only Sonja has trouble!! (and that included the chef ....they just had to get the consistency right!) As MG worked on the flat bread the Wolfman worked on the rest of the vegetarian sampler, which included wild rice, squash, sweet potatoes and other assorted rabbit food *g*. If you re-ea-a-lly want me to figure out the recipe I will ..and we can add it to the Greyland recipe page....however as usual I can't guarantee it's accuracy! Whilst whisking and cooking away MG talked about his career a little and the film Zig Zag ...in which coincidentally, he plays a chef ....much to the delight of the Wolfman. In fact I thought the garb MG was wearing was suspiciously similar to what he was wearing in that shot from Zig Zag ....hmmmm! In Zig Zag, he says, he doesn't actually cook anything ....he just chopped lettuce for the entire shoot...but at the end he saves the day. Just as it should be, if the Wolfman's opinion is anything to go by! MG is scheduled to be on again in a few weeks ...this time helping out with an entree. Looking forward to it!
Marnie:)

Stuck again...hmmm?

Didn't Michael look great? I have to admit it was a bit of a shock
to see the short hair, even though I was prepared for it. Can't mistake
that smile though! The bit with the bread had me chuckling. I'd probably
      do the same thing myself.

it focused mostly on conversation between the teenage girl (who somehow gets
transported into the time portal & finds herself among a band of Nez Perce Indians) &
actress Tantoo Cardinal.

if you want i can post a summary next weekend after i see MG's episode!!!!!

[*]   wider audience - Marnie, Jan/14/2002 18:09:06

Yup....give us all a breakdown of what happens.
Also ...some good news ...it seems MythQuest is being test-marketed starting this month in 6 cities/areas:
Maryland, Wisconsin, Memphis, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Providence (Rhode Island.)
It appears a wider release is expected in April, both on PBS and on CBC in Canada. So it looks like everyone ...or at least a whole bunch of us (sorry Sonja, Zan, Krichelle *G*) will get to see it ....eventually! Marnie:)

Award
Author: Marnie , Jan/16/2002 16:34:09
Homepage: OS

Hi all,
Michael is to receive a best actor award from FAITA in February ....you might want to check out the details at the OS and perhaps offer congratulations at his guest book.
OS
He certainly deserves the award ....one of his best performances to date. (Though I do have to say he could be standing treelike in the corner and I'd still be happy!!teehee) WE should hold a congratulatory party ....champagne anyone? Marnie:)
PS Keep the wobbly pop away from Sonja or she'll be on the table dancing again!

[*]   Did someone say "wobbly pop"???!!! - Sonja, Jan/17/2002 05:24:50

Ah...its about TIME we had another party! Thank you Michael, for winning an award so that we have something the CELEBRATE! :)

Well I happen to have a couple of bottles of the old bubbly nicely chilled, and am certainly READY for 'forget-your-cares-and-throw-caution-to-the-wind' PA-A-A-A-RTY!!! (Before I go slowly insane!!)

So bring it on, girls! Whisk that tea, cake, and those boring muffins off the table....I've got my tap shoes on!! LOL

[*]   Let's Celebrate - Marlene, Jan/18/2002 07:01:50

Go to it,Sonja! Sounds like a fun time to me!
Don't mind if I do take a few spirits to warm me up!
(It sure is cold in my neck of the woods right now)
So here's to Michael and all us MG fans!

[*]   Was at the OS site... - Carol, Jan/20/2002 01:25:44

just read the good news, about Michaels' award for
Skipped Parts!!! Those of you who have chatted with me
in the chat room know I always have a bottle of the
bubbly stuff or White Zin at hand for cheering up any
occasion. I'm popping the cork as I write this...Sonja,
SONJJJAAA!!, get down off that table before you get hurt!
Heee, hee. Just the thing to warm me up. I actually
had to put a sweater on this week, it got all the way
down to 58 degrees.hee, hee, hiccup! I also kept warm
last Sunday with some neighbors who came over to watch
the fire in my driveway. My car engine caught on fire due
to something electrical. One of the spectators asked
me out, how about that! Yup, there's nothing like a car on
fire to get some attention and a date!

Michael on Mythquest
Author: Laurie, Jan/21/2002 02:18:09

Sorry, i'm just getting around to this now its' been a crazy week end and I've been a
little sick.

Okay, LISSEN UP LADIES!! *g* MG plays a Nezperce named Brave Bear. This
white teenage girl today, somehow goes into a time warp and end's up in a Nezperce
camp hundred's of years ago before the white men came. There's a battle with the
Blackfoot and both tribes hate each other. The girl is the daughter of Nezperce chief
Red Wolf and she finds a way to bring peace between them and the Blackfoot.

In the battle our Hero gets hurt he's bleeding above his rib and in his arm. Red Wolf
& the girl take him into their tipi and she uses snow berries to cure his wound.

Hey girls its a tough job but i had to do it bravely so i could tell ya about it!! Ready??? I
had to watch them take off his shirt he's just laying there in his breech cloth poor
guy is bleeding and in terrible pain, and the chief thinks he might die. But of course he doesn't.

Enjoy it its' probably almost the last 'new' role we'll see him in long hair.

Wow, the Saskatchawan scenery is so gorgeous.

Tantoo Cardinal is in it, also Gordon Tootoosis. Ben Cardinal
is the Blackfoot chief his son is played by Dakota House who falls in
love with the teenage girl. Dakota was great in North of 60 and he was
also good here he had an important role here. But a really AWFUL wig! A few other
extra's also had bad wig's.

MG was SO wonderful like he always is, a really good role.

The show is beautiful, you will love it.

Laurie

[*]   Good Job! - Marlene, Jan/21/2002 07:23:53

Thanks, Laurie, for that great run down on
"Red Wolf's Daughter" I enjoyed it very much!
Hey!!!--Anyone run a video off of the broadcast?????
Now that would be worth a mint!!!

[*]   PBS in april - Laurie, Jan/21/2002 11:35:19

Marlene don't dispair, the OS says PBS is going to start airing
MythQuest across the USA in April!!!
i forgot to say that MG's character Brave Bear was saving the girl from the
attacking Blackfoot warrior's when he got badly injured. He also sits with chief
Red wolf when they're negotiating with the Blackfoot for peace. The solution is for
the girl (Silu) to marry the Blackfoot chief's son (Dakota House in the bad wig). He
            really loves her, he's 18 she's 15.
Oh when i saw the prevue last week I thought it was MG crouching up in the
branches of a tree. No it was another acting playing an Eagle spirit, he was really good.

It's so beautifully filmed, you'll love it.
            Laurie

[*]   Great! - Marlene, Jan/23/2002 07:36:08

Thanks again Laurie! I'll be anxious for April on
PBS. It will be great to see Dakota House again(Bad
wig and all) I never missed an episode of North
                  of 60.

[*]   For Marlene - Laurie, Jan/29/2002 16:17:53

Marlene You mentioned Dakota House, i saw him on a recent Buffalo Tracks with Lorne Cardinal. he was funny & wonderful & looks more mature.
in fact the way he was dressed and his hair, he looked like the Cree Tom Cruise!!!! hey at least he wasn't wearing that awful wig from
                        Mythquest!
                        Laurie

Any Questions for Michael?
Author: Sonja, Feb/14/2002 05:20:19

Hey guys.....the Official Site is about ready to send some more questions in to Michael....so if you have anything you are DYING to ask him, (that hasn't already been asked....check out the FAQ pages at the OS) then submit them to the OS, or send them to Marnie and I, and we'll forward them.

[*]   I already submitted some a while ago.... - dale, Feb/14/2002 21:11:44

Should I repeat the questions again???

[*]   FAQ's - Sonja, Feb/15/2002 05:59:17

Nope Dale....they should have them if you submitted them. If they aren't answered yet they may be in this batch thats going now. Just to tell you that the gals at the OS use their own discretion as to what they actually do forward to Michael, also he does take a while to get round to them, and sometimes he simply does not answer certain questions for reasons of his own...so don't feel bad if yours don't come up. I've had one which he did not answer...sometimes he chooses not to. Its just one of those things..OK! :)

[*]   THANKS SONJA - dale, Feb/17/2002 16:14:43

He's answered all of mine so far(except the last ones Isent kinda early);but I certainly understand him not answering everything!

[*]   Indian actor who played the older Geronimo in the movie Geronimo - Cheryl Grzan, Feb/19/2002 21:20:36

I don't have access to E-mail at this time so I can send you this. I was wondering what is the name of the Indian actor who played the older Geronimo in the movie Geronimo? I have also seen this actor in North of 60 several times. I thought he played Crazy Horse's grandfather in that movie. When someone can answer my question, I would like to know who had the information. Cheryl

[*]   Actor - Marnie, Feb/20/2002 13:33:42

Hi Cheryl, The actor in Crazy Horse and Nof60 who also plays the elderly Geronimo is Jimmy Herman.

[*]   Thanks Marnie - Anon, Feb/22/2002 00:44:45

Marnie, I am glad to know the name of the actor who was the elderly Geronimo and was in Crazy Horse and North of 60. I think he is a great actor and I didn't see his name in the credits of the movie Crazy Horse. Cheryl

[*]   What did tokalah mean when...? - darda1@juno.com, Feb/20/2002 22:00:44

I sent a message already but I don't know if I did it right. And I'm not sure but I suppose if Michael answers my queston it will be put on the FAQ page and I should look for it there. Okay, anyway. At the climax of Stolen Women, Captured Hearts Tokalah calls Anna a lier. What did he mean by that? And when Anna says that she never asked to be taken from her husband, Tokalah says "You did ask, I heard you ask." What was Tokalah referring to? I would love Michael feedback on this. Thank you and take care. Sincerely, Lori

[*]   I put it on the guest book instead of... - Anon, Feb/20/2002 23:26:30

The questions and comments section. Does that matter?

[*]   SWCH questions - Sonja, Feb/21/2002 05:12:23

Hi Lori, The gals at the Official Site are pretty much on the ball, and if they see a question for Michael posted at the guest book, and they feel it would be a worthwhile Q for him, they would send it on.

As to your questions in this posting, heck....Michael made SWCH so long ago now I wonder if he remembers what his subtext was in that scene?!! ;)

Personally though, I would say that by calling Anna a lier, he was saying that although she often told him she HAS a husband and would stay faithful to that husband, he KNEW the longing of her heart was in actual fact NOT for her husband, but for Tokala himself. When he said "You DID ask, I HEARD you ask!" I think he was referring to his vision of the woman with the book. He may have felt that his receiving this vision was sort of a cry from her own heart, calling to him over space and time, wanting him to take her from her old home and life. Just my interpretation of course! :)

Hope that helps you sort it out?

Glad to have you here with fellow MG fans, Lori!

[*]   Re: SWCH questions - Lori, Feb/21/2002 15:30:07

Thanks Sonja, I like that interpretation even better than my own. Mine was close but not quite. I like this site because you can post messages and talk to others with similar interests. By the way, I wrote this somewhere, I think maybe the official site, but; Who can we write to (and where)to try to light a fire under someone to get another part for Michael like he had in SWCH? We women love this stuff! I want to see more Tokalah! (well it doesn't have to be Tokalah but certainly a leading character just like him). Aren't there brilliant movie makers out there that would see the wisdom in making a film like this(and that the many and powerful women of the world would reward them for it by making it a success with their support$$$)? What can we do? Probably nothing I know, but then nothing is impossible. I appreciate you getting back to me with my question Sonja. I like your site very much. Your irreverent gallery was very funny, accept for the picture that would not enlarge, that was just torture!(just kidding). Sincerely Lori

I would appreciate some feedback on my question above. And also, I'm not sure about the time zone thing, and when I should log on to have a live chat with you all. I live in California's central valley (USA). What time on the first saturday of the month should I show up? Thanks, Lori

                              Hi Lori,
Well Sonja lives in South Africa and I live in Canada so your best bet is to check with the world time server to figure out your time zone ...click the link above or go here
                              http://www.worldtimeserver.com/
As for who to contact ...best bet would be to do a web search and get the various addresses of CBS (who originally made and aired SWCH) and/or Hallmark who make similarly themed stories. To be frank though, unless there are huge numbers lobbying you'll pretty much be ignored. We've sent the SWCH petition three times (only new signatories) with no perceptible reaction let alone an aknowledgement!
                              Marnie

[*]   Times - Sonja, Feb/27/2002 05:47:52

Yup Lori, check the times on the chat room page. However we'll be skipping this month due to chat room moving to another location. Marn will let us know when it is all done, and the new address etc. We'll all meet with bells on first Saturday in April....OK?!!

Sam's Circus
Author: Nellie, Feb/23/2002 02:23:04

l read an article in ABC Soaps mag where Tyler
Christopher says of Sam's Circus, "Although the
pilot did not get picked up for fall, it still
could air in some format later." It goes on to say,
That's good news for Christopher, who says that
out of everything he's done to date, it's the
project he's proudest of. "Everyone bonded on
the 13 day shoot. It was freezing, it rained every
day, and there was mud up to our knees."
So we may be seeing Michael in a helmet after all.
Tyler has been in a couple of soaps which l don't
watch. Didn't know he was so goodlooking or l
would have tuned in. Been watching AMC only
for years.
