For Those Confined To Bed

REFLECTION:

Time passes ever so slowly
when you are waiting and confined to bed.
Learn to accept this as a period of "rest"
as if these were musical rests written by God
in the symphony of our life.
Consider your confinement necessary
for your future work for God.
You have to wait and come on in on the next downbeat.

PETITION:

Blessed Lady, our Mother Mary,
the Church calls you the health of the sick.
Hug me close and console me as you did your Son
when he was sick as a child.
With you and your husband Joseph at my side,
the long nights will pass and the days will be more cheerful.

God's Word and Practice

  GOD'S WORD:

"Even now I find my joy in the suffering I endure for you.
In my own flesh I fill up what is lacking
in the sufferings of Christ for the sake of his body, the church."
(Col 1:24)

PRACTICE:

Trust today and always in God's ever watchful care of you since,
as He told us,
not even the sparrow falls from heaven without His knowing of it.
(Mt 11:29)

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace:
Where there is hatred let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
