For Those Taken Sick

REFLECTION:

Very few of us voluntarily choose any form of sickness or suffering.
When such a trial does come,
we must try to view it as a sign of God's special grace.

PETITION:

Holy Job, patient prototype of Jesus Christ,
you remained as faithful to God in affliction
as you were in prosperity.
Please come to my aid now,
and help me to bless His HoLy Name as you did.
By the Power of God,
may I be restored to my former state as you were,
if it is God's Will.

God's Word and Practice

GOD'S WORD:

"....in all that we do,
we strive to present ourselves as ministers of God,
acting with patient endurance amid trials,
difficulties, distresses...." (2 Cor 6:4)

PRACTICE:

With bodily activity slowed because of illness,
you have more time to devote to growing closer in spirit to the Lord.
Be ready to use this short time of special grace wisely.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR HOLY FATHER

"Doctors, nurses, chaplains and all other hospital staff:
yours is a noble vocation.
Remember it is Christ to whom you minister in the sufferings
of your brothers and sisters....
May God bless and comfort all who are sick.
May Jesus Christ, the savior of the world and healer of the sick,
make His light shine through human weakness
as a beacon for us all."
Pope John Paul II
