Dedicated to the memory
of Blessed Padre Pio

A Prayer to Blessed Padre Pio

Beloved Padre Pio,
today I come to add my prayer
to the thousands of prayers offered to you every day
by those who love and venerate you.
They ask for cures and healings,
earthly and spiritual blessings,
and peace for body and mind.
And because of your friendship with the Lord,
he heals those you ask to be healed,
and forgives those you forgive.
Through your visible wounds of the Cross,
which you bore for 50 years,
you were chosen in our time to glorify the crucified Jesus.
Because the Cross has been replaced by other symbols,
please help us to bring it back in our midst,
for we acknowledge it is the only true sign of salvation.
As we lovingly recall the wounds that pierced your hands,
feet and side,
we not only remember the blood you shed in pain,
but your smile,
and the invisible halo of sweet smelling flowers
that surrounded your presence,
the perfume of sanctity.
Padre Pio,
may the healings of the sick
become the testimony that the Lord has invited you
to join the holy company of Saints.
In your kindness,
please help me with my own special request:
(mention here your petition, and make the sign of the Cross).
Bless me and my loved ones.
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

A Short Story about Blessed Padre Pio

Padre Pio was born on May 25, 1887.
He was baptized Francis.
Even as a child he had extraordinary gifts.
While his brothers and sisters played, he prayed.
When he was a teenager
he received a present of chestnuts wrapped in a bag.
He returned the bag to the sender of the gifts, a woman.
The woman saved the bag,
she thought it might be a future relic.
This woman was in her barn
when a spark ignited powder
and there was a terrible explosion.
She was in great pain,
and bleeding from a serious wound.
She remembered the bag and placed it to herself.
She was instantly cured.
This was the first miracle
God performed through Padre Pio,
he was 13 years old.
At the age of 15 Padre Pio
entered the Capuchins despite the fact that he was in bad health.
One day he heard a voice from the tabernacle:
"You will be scourged,
crown with thorns and nailed to the cross like St. Francis."
In 1910 Padre Pio was ordained a priest.
On September 20, 1915
he received the invisible wounds of Christ.
Three years later on September 20, 1918
Padre received the visible wounds.

My Personal Experience
Beatification of Padre Pio
May 2, 1999
2:30 - 3:30 EDT

I Had a Dream!

I dreamed I was standing next to Our Holy Father in Rome
during the Beatification ceremonies honoring Padre Pio.
Our Holy Father requested that I pray with Him during this ceremony.
I did not refuse and felt honored and humbled by this request.

There were many other people present,
however, Our Pontiff,
and myself stood  side-by-side in prayer
in honor of Padre Pio.

After prayers were said,
I asked to view the tomb of Padre Pio
. Our Holy Father granted my wish
and pointed the way to Padre Pio's tomb
as though I knew the way,
as our Holy Father pointed in a generalized direction I was to go.

I proceeded to go into that generalized direction
whereas I came face to face with a guard.
The guard was extremely apprehensive
to allow me to pass.

All at once, our Holy Father,
presented Himself to me again,
only to tell the guard to allow me entrance as Our Holy Father said,
"Allow her to gain entrance now and during future visits."
The guard immediately removed himself
from my presence along with our Holy Father.

There I was in a darkened room.
I saw a dark velvet curtain hanging
(like on a confessional).
I walked up to the curtain,
moved it aside only to enter a room
that was lit by a single candle
and a man sitting there
reading a book by candlelight.
There was a dark coffin in the room
and I could see inside, however,
there was no one inside the coffin.

I decided to go to this man
sitting and reading his book
and inquire where the tomb of Padre Pio laid.
As I walked up to him to tap him on the shoulder,
a sweet smell became very apparent to me.
I inquired to the gentleman,
"Excuse me, sir,
but could you tell me where to find the tomb of Padre Pio?"

This elderly gentleman
slowly lifted his head,
smiled widely
(I could see the glow of the candlelight reflecting off his teeth).
He then said to me
as he raised his head up slowly,
"Child, you have come in search of the dead, I am alive."

As my eyes drifted slowly up his face
and into his eyes,
I was amazed to find that this kindly gentleman was Padre Pio.
I turned to the coffin
and pointed to an empty tomb
and the only thing I could say was,
"But?"

Padre laughed a wonderfully warm laugh
that filled my heart with joy.
He held out his arms
and I threw myself in his embrace
and felt surrounded and engulfed totally by Love.
Sort of like a whirlwind surrounding me
and touching every part of my being.

While dreaming this dream,
my husband claims he came into our bedroom
where I was repeating over and over again
"Padre!"
and giggling like a child.
