Komrovsky Borzoi began
in 1966 when, while doing some set design work for an opera
company, I happened across an advertisement of a model in
a fur coat, flanked by an incredibly distinctive, beautiful
Borzoi. For some reason, I knew immediately that I had finally
found the breed of dog for me. There was no looking back after
that moment.
My first Borzoi was from the
now-defunct Ristovia kennels, and the rest is now history.
Komrovsky Borzoi has never been an active breeding kennel;
my first litter was born in 1990, and the second one is now
whelped here in 2000. The priority at Komrovsky has been the
Borzoi, themselves, along with research of the breed, helping
others in the breed, and the publication of Borzoi International
magazine since 1988.
Komrovsky bloodlines consist
of some of the older, hard-to-find lines, with up front Windswept,
Loral, Sundown and Crescent dominating. All of my dogs go
back to the good, old Sunbarr breeding with a dash of Malora
thrown in. Komrovsky Borzoi are well known for their good
body, bone, sweet and happy temperaments, and extremely heavy,
natural coat.
