Materials needed
Needles:
size 5 & 7 12inch circular needles
size 5 & 7 16inch circular needles
size 5 & 7 24inch circular needles
stitch holders
markers - 2 different colors
Yarn:
Worsted Weight for a gauge of 5 st X 7 rows = 1 inch on larger needles These
are approx amounts of yarn. Cuffs and neckband can be done in contrasting color
Size 1......................4-5 oz
Size 2......................6 oz
Size 4......................6-8 oz
Size 6......................8+ oz
Size 8......................10-12 oz
With size 5 needles cast on:
Size 1, 2, 4, 6 = 60 stitches (chest measurements) 20/21/23/25/
Size 8 = 64 stitches (chest measurement) 27
Place a marker after casting on sts. Work in rounds of K1, P1 moving marker
each row for 2 inches.
We will now be placing markers to mark the front, back and sleeve sections. Do not use the same color markers as the one that marks the beginning of the rounds. This will also be the start of our increases. All increases will be made by.....Knit into the front of the stitch and knit into the back of the same stitch, slipping both stitches off the needle at the same time.
Change to size 7 12 inch needles.
Row 1....knit 22 stitches(all sizes) place a marker (Back) (1, 2, 4, 6) knit 8 stitches, place a marker (sleeve) (size 8) knit 10 stitches, place a marker (sleeve) Knit 22 stitches (all sizes) place a marker (front) (1, 2, 4, 6) knit 8 stitches (sleeve) (size 8) knit 10 stitches (sleeve)
All even rows....are the increase rows You will be increasing 8 stitches on each even round When work becomes too tight , switch to a 16 inch size 7 needle
Row 2....* inc in first stitch, knit to (1) stitch before next marker, increase in last stitch, move marker* repeat around
Row 3...knit around, moving markers as you go
Repeat row 2 and 3 until work measures: (from below ribbing)
Ending on a knit row Size 1.........4 inches
Size 2.........4 1/2 inches
Size 4.........5 inches
Size 6.........6 inches
Size 8.........6 1/2 inches
We will now place the sleeve stitches on holders and join the back and front sections together.
Knit the back stitches to marker, slip the sleeve stitches onto a holder. Knit the front stitches to the next marker. Slip the sleeve stitches onto a holder. You are now back at the marker which marks the begining of the rounds. Slip marker and continue knitting. ( the back and front are now joined together.) Continue knitting each row until the work measures ( from underarm)
Size 1.......5 inches
Size 2.......6 inches
Size 4.......7 1/2 inches
Size 6.......8 1/2 inches
Size 8.......10 1/2 inches
Change to size 5 needles (16 inch) and work in K1, P 1 ribbing for 1 1/2 or 2 inches. Bind off in ribbing.
Sleeves 12 inch size 7 needles
Slip the sleeve stitches onto needle making sure that the stitches are not twisted. Place a marker. (1) Decrease after and before the marker every inch (or) (2) Make a multiple decrease on last row before the cuff.
Knit the sleeve stitches until the sleeve measures:
Size 1.......4 1/2 inches cuff 30 stitches
Size 2.......6 1/2 inches cuff 32 stitches
Size 4.......8 1/2 inches cuff 32 stitches
Size 6.......9 1/2 inches cuff 34 stitches
Size 8.......10 1/2 inches cuff 34 stitches ( I would decrease every inch for
size 8)
Change to size 5 (12) needle and work in K 1, P 1 for 2inches. Bind off in ribbing.
Repeat for other sleeve.
Weave in ends. Sew up the small hole under the arms from the
right side.
