Yarn:
Worsted Weight for a gauge of 5 st X 7 rows = 1 inch on larger needles These
are approx amounts of yarn. Cuffs and neckband can be done in contrasting color
Size 1......................4-5 oz
Size 2......................6 oz
Size 4......................6-8 oz
Size 6......................8+ oz
Size 8......................10-12 oz
Needles:
Size 5 & 7 straight needles
Size 5 & 7 circular needles optional
With size 5 needles cast on:
size 1, 2, 4 69 stitches
size 6, 8 73 stitches
Row 1: [ K2] P1, K1, P1 across to last 3 stitches P1, [K2]
Row 2: K1, P1 across
Row 3: same as Row 1 Buttonholes
Row 4: Boy K1, P1, K1, P1, sl 1, K1, PSSO, YO, K1, [P1, K1], to end of
row Girl K1, P1 to last 8 sts- P1, K1, YO, K2tog, P1, K1, P1, K1
Row 5: same as Row 1
Row 6: same as Row 2.
Change to size 7 needles **all even (knit) rows are increase rows.
Row 1: K2, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, place a marker (color 1) Band Purl
7 sts, place a marker (color 2) Front Purl (8, 8, 8, 10, 10) sts, place a marker
(Color 2) Sleeve Purl 23 sts, place a marker (color 2) Back Purl (8, 8, 8, 10,
10) sts, place a marker (color 2) Sleeve Purl 7 sts, place a marker(color 1)
Front K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K2 Band.
Row 2: Keep band in pattern, Knit across *increasing before and after
each color 2 marker* Knit band Do Not increase by buttonband Make buttonhole:
size 1 every 1 1/2 inches All other sizes every 2 inches
Row 3: Purl Repeat rows 2 & 3.... increases on every knit row until....and
ending on a Purl row Size 1...4 1/2 inches Size 2...5 inches Size 4...5 1/2
inches Size 6...6 inches Size 8...7 1/2 inches Dividing Row continue to work
buttonband in estab pattern and repeat buttonholes
Row 1: Work buttonband (8 sts) Knit across front Slip sleeve sts to

Row 2:...Purl
Row 3:...Knit
Repeat rows 2 & 3 until work measures
Size 1...5 1/2 inches
Size 2...6 inches
Size 4...7 inches
Size 6...9 inches
Size 8...10 inches
Change to size 5 needles and work row 1 & 2 for 2 inches
Row 1: K2, P1, K1 to last 3 sts, P1, k2
Row 2: K1, P1 across Put a buttonhole in middle of bottom ribbing
Sleeves:
Size 1, 2, and 4 no decreases
Size 6 and 8 decrease 1 st each end every 1 inch
Put sleeve stitches on either size 7 straight or circular needles being careful
not to twist stitches Work in Knit 1 row, Purl 1 row until sleeve measures
Size 1...5 1/2 inches
Size 2...6 1/2 inches
Size 4...8 inches
Size 6...10 inches
Size 8...11 inches
Reducing on the last row to:
Size 1: reduce to 28 sts
Size 2: reduce to 30 sts
Size 4: reduce to 30 sts
Size 6: reduce to 32 sts
Size 8: reduce to 34 sts
Cuff:
work K1, P1 for 2 inches. Repeat for other sleeve or work sleeve on circular
needles for a no sew seam
