Aran Knit Sweater From "Patons Aran Knits For The Family" #713

Their patterns are easy to follow even for first time aran knitters. I used WoolEase Bonus Bundle from Lion Brand Yarn Co. I used a notebook and text to keep tract of what row I was on. I would recommend this pattern book for the first time aran knitter.

Fair-Isle Sweater from "RichDesigns One Piece Knitting"
This is worked from the top down which made it a simple design. To also make it that extra easy, I used a variegated yarn instead of changing various colours. The pattern book is obtainable through www.angelfire.com/ut/RichDesigns . No affiliations just one very happy customer.

Patrons Kid Knits #517

I knit this sweater using acrylic Red Heart Worstered Weight yarn, size 4 & 6 needles. The graph is easy to read and because the patches are simple you can basically put them where-ever you want and still get the right effect. For those of you who don't like knitting and having floats you can easily add the patches of spots using duplicate stitch.

The Big Book of Knitting by Katharina Buss hardcover, 237 pages.

Great pictures and easy to follow directions. It takes you from the basics and continues through cables and fairisle. A well rounded book even for the more experienced knitter. Good variety of techniques for joining, increasing, decreasing and much more. This would be a great book for a beginner as the illustrations are very well done. Well worth the 20 +/- of cost and shipping

Teddy Bear Pattern (review by Cailleon) see picture

I was amazed how quickly he was finished even though the printed pattern was 4 pages. I couldn't figure out what the abbreviation "st-st" means, it might be sockinette stitch but I'm not sure. I substituted st-st for knit and purl rows. It also seems that at the very beginning the nose tip starts with 2 purl rows, which looked sort of odd later on. I overstiched them with black yarn for the nose and used sea shell buttons for eyes instead of stitching them on. I found one bug though: When knitting the right leg the pattern reads:

Next row: Cast off 3 sts k wise, p to end = 26 sts
Dec 1 st at beginning of next 6 rows = 20 sts
Dec 1 st at each end of next 4 rows = 12 sts - but this makes 16 sts, not 12
Next row: k 2tog to end = 6 sts - but this makes 8

My solution:
k 3tog, k2tog (5 times), k3tog
