Lorraine's Quick and Easy Poncho


Cast on 4 stitches,
Knit Row 1. Knit 2 stitches, yarn over, knit to end of row Repeat row 1 until 82 stitches. Bind off.
Make second piece the same.. Sew together- leaving the center 30 st open on each piece. (60 stitches for neck opening)
Either Row 1: Single crochet around neck.
Row 2: Single crochet, ch 3, single crochet around. Tie off. Add cord , weaving through the ch 3 loops. Add fringe if desired.
For hood Pick up (54) stitches around opening . Knit 1 purl 1 for 1 inch then increase 12 stitches and continue in garter stitch (knit every row) for 6 inches. Fold in half to form hood. Add fringe if desired. Larger sizes: The length should be the length of any sweater pattern (from shoulder to waist) plus 2-3 inches.
