The following are some of my favorite chess links:
Kasparov won the first match. Deep Junior won the third. Games #2, #4, and #5 have come up draws. Who will emerge victorious?See the games as they unfold at x3d.com. Will Kasparov be able to pull it off? This is where I play all my chess games online. Chessplay is free here is you have a copy of Fritz 7 or 8. Europes biggest chess server. More than 1000 players online every night. Grandmasters playing, free chess training, live events, free chess tournaments with prizes every day, simultaneous exhibitions, special beginners and computer chess rooms. You don't have to buy Fritz in order to play. You can download the client and play as long as you like as an unregistered guest. However, Fritz does rock, and I suggest you get it if you are going to be calling yourself a chess player. Want to get me something good for Christmas? Get me Fritz8! What sold me was the new virtual board. The pieces glide from square to square, and the camera can be positioned ANYWHERE you want. Checkout these screenshots. If Fritz is the proggie you use to PRACTICE against human opponents, Chessbase is the THEORY. Chessbase is a fully customizable way of creating all sorts of Databases of chessgames. You can create an opening tree of your favorite opponent in Chessbase, send it to Fritz, and the computer will only play the moves that you have specified in your opening tree! A great tool if you are interested in learning a new opening or want to find out what a few grandmasters played in your position. ***Important*** At the Chessbase site, there is a section called T-Notes. The author, Steve Lopez, has been writing T-Notes since 1997, over 5 years. T-Notes is for anyone know would like to learn more about how to use Fritz/Chessbase better. Now in order to access the T-Notes, you need to register with ChessbaseUSA. I don't know if they will try to charge you any money. But if they try to, you can access the free version by clicking here or the designated link above.. Not quite as much at the free version, and less pretty (green blackground), but I read the free T-Notes and learned a ton. My Chess Rating so far:
