"PADUCAH SUN"
CHARLES STEEL
Charles (Red) Steel, 78, died Thursday morning at his home at 2200 Bridge St.
Mr. Steel was a steamfitter for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Steel is survived by his wife, Rita Steel; a son, Frank Steel of Paducah; a stepson, Riley Gregory of Tulsa, Okla; a daughter, Esther Shoulta of Reidland; two stepdaughters, Frances Shoulders and Katherine Davidson, both of Paducah; two brothers, Joe Steel of Brookport, Ill., and Woodrow Steel of Paducah; two sisters, Lottie Gipson of West Paducah and Frances Steel of Herrin, Ill; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, eight stepgrand-
children and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lindsey Funeral Home. The Rev. Terry Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in Maplelawn Cemetary.

JOSEPH STEEL
METROPOLIS, Ill. - Services for Joseph Steel, 87, of Metropolis will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Louis Brinker will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
Mr. Steel died at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday at his home.
Mr. Steel is a veteran of World War II, was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He had owned and operated Joe's Body Shop and later served as body shop manager at Frank Farmer Chevrolet.
He is survived by two sons, John Steel and Ralph Steel, both of Metropolis; two sisters, Lottie Gibson of Paducah, and Francis Steel of Murphysboro; two grandchildren, Dustin Steel and Clarissa Steel, both of Metropolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Steel was preceded in death by first wife, Clara Fulkerson Steel; his second wife, Bonnie Bradley Hurst Steel; one son Joseph E.Steel Jr; three brothers; and one sister. His parents were John and Laura Harper Steel.

CHARLES C. & MARY C. HAGUE STEEL FAMIY

Charles C. Steel was born abt. 1822 in Philadelphia, PA., His father was WILLIAM(Bible records) who was from Philadelphia also sometime before 1849, he traveled to Gibson County, Tennessee, and married MARY C.(Caroline) HAGUE, the daughter of SIMEON AND FRANCES HAGUE. Their children where: WILLIAM SIMEON STEEL; ALBERT C. STEEL; SUSANNA STEEL; MARY A.(Ann) STEEL; JAMES C. STEEL; JOHN BRYANT STEEL(Sr.); EDWARD T.(Thomas) STEEL. All the children were born in Gibson Co. SIMEON HAGUE died in the year 1857, where he is buried is unknown, sometime before 1870, at least MARY C. STEEL and the children came to Graves County, Kentucky, around the Boaz-Collierville (St. Johns, McCracken CO.) area. The 1880's still has some of the family in Graves Cp/. according to the census records, the girls are gone, either married or died; ALBERT is no longer in the family, records show he died in 1878 Graves County, also records show CHARLES C. STEEL died in 1878 Graves Co., (Record states that his father was (W) and his mother (S.A.)....born in Germany and Ireland????). Bible records shown that SIMEON and FRANCES HAGUE died in 1871 & 1872, place or burial is unknown. 1881 marriage records of McCracken County, Kentucky show that JAMES C. STEEL married MARTHA MCNEILL there.
**1889 Marriage records in McCracken Co., shows JOHN BRYANT STEEL(Sr.) marries BLANCHE M. BRAHIC, daughter of AUGUST and BLANCHE MARTIN BRAHIC, both born in France and residing in McCracken County, Kentucky. Two children were of this marriage; CLARENCE STEEL, MARY STEEL. BLANCHE M. BRAHIC STEEL died during the childbirth of either the last child or of the third, of which the child died also?
**1904 Marriage records in McCracken Co., KY show JOHN BRYANT STEEL(Sr.) married LAURA EVALINE HARPER, daughter of FREDERICK and VIRGINIA CAROLINE (Jennie) DUNAWAY. Children of this marriage are: JOHN BRYANT STEEL JR.,; JOSEPH EDWARD STEEL; CHARLES EDISON STEEL; LAURA ADELL STEEL; LOTTIE IDELL STEEL; WOODROW WILSON STEEL(e); FRANCIS VIRGINIA STEEL. All the children were born in McCracken County, Kentucky except LAURA ADELL and LOTTIE IDELL, they were born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Due to a birth certificate error, WOODROW WILSON STEEL and an (e) added to the last name, and his family continue to use the STEELE.
