Far left: A KC-135A Stratotanker with refueling boom extended shortly after takeoff from K. I. Sawyer. The KC-135A was the only stratotanker model stationed at K. I. Sawyer.

KC-135A Stratotanker number 57-1459 was assigned to K. I. Sawyer as part of The 46th Air Refueling Squadron. This aircraft was delivered to the USAF on September 12, 1958. The 46th ARS operated nineteen KC-135A Stratotankers out of Sawyer. The 46th remained stationed at K. I. Sawyer until the squadron was deactivated on October 1, 1993.

The Cessna T-37B ''Tweets'' were the last aircraft assigned to K. I. Sawyer in 1977. Six of these jet trainers were assigned to Sawyer as part of the 71st Flying Training Wing.

Each summer K. I. Sawyer held a one day open house open to the general public. The pictures below are static displays of aircraft flown in from other Air Force and Naval Bases as well as aircraft based at K. I. Sawyer. These pictures were taken between 1990 and 1994. Some of these aircraft performed flight demonstrations, in particular the F-15 Eagle from Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico and the F-14 Tomcat from VF-101 ''Grim Reapers'', Oceana Naval Air Station. A brief description of each aircraft is found below each set of pictures. When I have been able to determine the home base of each aircraft (at that time) I have provided a link to that web site.

The United States Air Force Thunderbirds also made numerous visits to the annual open house at K. I. Sawyer. The pictures above are from the Thunderbirds appearance at Sawyer's open house on July 2, 1994. The Thunderbirds use the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon seen in the pictures above for their flight demonstration. This was also the final open house at K. I. Sawyer. The last B-52H's left Sawyer later the same year. The nineteen KC-135R Stratotankers had already left Sawyer in October 1993.
