Well, that's a high-level derivitave of the Trans-Formers line on both Sparticus and your parts. One thing when writing ANY crossover: Even if you're going to derive it, you have to keep it to the source material. Maybe I'm playing a little ego here (hope not), but look at my Curse of the Nightmare fanfic, the Celebrity Death Match with Ranma vs. Ryouga. You'll see that the fighting styles of the two were brought to the "Marvel Engine," yet they kept their basic traits from Ranma so everyone could recognize them. I have received much critical acclaim from writers all over about just how well written that one was and some other fights in Curse of the Nightmare.
I think you guys undervalue the importance of Spike and his family in Trans-Formers. If I remember correctly in Trans-Formers "Final" (which I still have on tape, the last four-parter featuring Head-Masters and Target-Masters), when everyone else failed, who led the final charge against the Decepticons? It was Spike.
I think it's a critical mistake if you leave Spike out of your stories, and I'm sure you'll be criticized by many for it.
