I think you should figure out some way to incorporate the whole crash landing on another planet origin idea in there somehow. After all, how will they have gotten there truck and plane forms if they didn't crash land on Earth? Give it some thought before you end up making a whole lot of Transfans frustrated with your story and you end up getting flooded with E-Mails. Think about it. Also, how about a Scooby-Doo crossover? They did a game of them after all.
Well Scooby Doo didn't take place in Videoland, so going by the logic of 'They did a game of them after all' the Transformers idea works. After the movie in 1986, a really piss-poor game was done in Japan. It's not worth five yen, but it re-inforces your implied theory that it works if there was a game of it.
BTW: I've been helping Mark with some of the loose-ends to Machine Wars, and making sure the stuff that he insists on, is executed as well as humanly possible given his plotline.
