: : : An LOZ: LA sequel? Just the mention of such a rumor has got my gears grinding! I'd like to hear all about it. Maybe if there is such a sequel it would make good subject matter for a Captain N fanfic or the series itself!
There's a page about it over at Zelda Headquarters. I'll put a link down below.
: And being the science man I am, I can't help but offer you my hypothesis on how it could be possible for Koholint Island to exist once again. Remember how the Wind Fish mentioned that Koholint will be just a memory once he and Link woke up? That memory must be the real dream world? Picture this. Dreams are products of the subconscious mind right? (I must remind you, I'm not a REAL doctor, but I know a lot about the human body and its organs and systems.) What if the Wind Fish after many years had forgotten about Koholint and Link but the memory was still in the back of both their minds. Suppose for some reason the Wind Fish should fall asleep again, maybe by his own power or by a new threat, and that memory resurfaces in his dream just as Link (cooincidently) decides to go on another vacation or has a strange urge to return to some place he can't remember...something trying to surface in his memory but he can't grasp it... ...I can just hear (read?) Marin saying "Guess what, Link? We're back! And you didn't forget me after all this time!" INSTANT SEQUEL!!!
I was thinking almost that same thing. It might be another fish instead of the Wind Fish, too, like that Sun Fish that's alluded to in LA.
: Also, here are some more thoughts. Isn't it funny how the nightmare creatures of Super Mario Bros. 2 surfaced in Link's Awakening? I'd sure like some input on how THAT'S possible (Other than it's another Golden Myamoto Moment! Even if it is!).
Perhaps there's a "Dream Dimension"? It would give all these dream baddies someplace to gather, and we already know there's more than one dimension (Light World/Dark World, anyone?).
Perhaps the portraits in Hyrule Castle in Toot play a role. There's portraits of Mario, Luigi, etc., so maybe they come from neighboring worlds or something. If Mario can be known in Hyrule, perhaps his dream adventures can be as well, allowing those creatures to manifest themselves in Link or the Wind Fish's dreams.
: Samus has been getting all the glory, lately.
What's wrong with that? ;)
: Remember, the NES Metroid and Kid Icarus were parallel games in program archetecture (password, one life, select button summons a power item with a numerical limit, energy meter, run, jump, etc.). That's all I have to say about that.
Did you know that the original Japanese Metroid actually had a save system not unlike Zelda 1's, with three slots? I wonder if Kid Icarus did as well.
Oh, and wasn't there some sort of sequel to Kid Icarus? I think I remember reading about one for Gameboy or something.
: P.S. Some of you have got to be annoyed that I write such long letters. I don't want you to think I'm a chatterbox or anything. I just have a lot of thoughts and being the overachiever I am, I try to get them all in one message. I apologize for my lengthy opuses.
I like these long letters, myself. Very interesting!
