Actually, the second theory I talked about, or at least the one I've encountered before, is based off Miyamoto saying that Zelda 3 came after Zelda 2. He said that in an interview or two shortly after Zelda 5 came out. Personally, I don't buy it, too many plot holes there. I suppose there could be a 3-4-1-2 variation that I hadn't encountered yet, though. :)
: And for the record- nowhere does it say Link didn't already know Zelda in Zelda1. It's often assumed... but you know what happens to people who assume something...

: To make matters worse- there was this nice video clip released by Nintendo. I've seen screenshots from it, and have downloaded the avi from The Zelda Headquarters. Almost everywhere you see anything about it (or other such clips), it's says it's from Zelda64. I don't think so!!!

I've seen that, too, or at least parts of it. That clip is pretty old, I think... I believe it dates back to the earliest days of the N64, which would go along with the Super Nintendo game idea. There was a clip (or it may be part of the same one) that showed Link fighting a knight, and that was definitely not the Zelda64 Link. The knight fighting clip was made to show off what the N64 could do, so this other clip may have been, too.

: If you know your Zelda drawings- except for the haircut and shield- this one is basically Link from Zelda3 and 4 (sorry, but Link in Zelda1 and 2 WERE drawn differently).
That's what I remember about the clip most vividly; Link was waaay different than the Z64 Link. Definitely more like the Zelda 3 Link.

LOL! :) If I remember the clip right, it dates back to when Zelda64 was first announced. I guess it changed a lot over time, maybe. ;)
