Trophy

What We Play For Each Summer

The first Rook Trophy was unveiled in 1990.  Since the Rook Bird was not available for the trophy a chicken was substituted which drew several laughs until the trophy fell apart.  In 1996 a new more impressive cup was unveiled and is the current officially recognized trophy.

The trophy has a green wood base with plates showing each past Tournament champion.  A large gold cup with two handles sits atop the base.

Each Christmas the family gets together in Eagle Lake, Florida near what used to be Cypress Gardens.  We try to have a short ceremony by passing the trophy from one member of the winning team to another.

Prizes

The top four winners are awarded a gift certificate from fees collected  to any of the three Chiles family restaurants on Manatee County beaches.  Ed Chiles, the owner is the son of former Florida Governor Lawton Chiles.

2003 Prizes
1st Place - $60
2nd Place - $45
3rd Place - $35
4th Place - $25

We thank the Chiles Group for their assistance and great food!
