Moccasins or Medicine Bag - One of our most popular activities, we teach guests to make their own moccasins or a medicine bag out of leather.  Beading methods included if time allows.

Tomahawk & Knife Throwing - One of our most popular activities, we take "flatlanders" and have them sticking steel in no time!  Folks are also given tips on how to set up a home hawk/knife target, because once they stick 'em a few times, they're stuck!

Muzzleloading Pistol & Rifles - Demonstration of flintlock pistol & percussion cap rifle reproductions.  Guests can shoot if possible.  Loading with black powder, gear & accoutrements & safety issues are discussed.

Bows, Arrows & Other Tools - From local wood and stones, we help guests make their own arrows and/or other tools using ancient methods and sinew.  Often used in conjunction with flint knapping.  If time allows, a simple bow can be constructed as well.

Horse-Packing Demo - Demos on how Native Americans used travois, & how the Mountain Men, Pioneers & Cowboys packed with a saw-buck pack saddle.  One-man diamond hitch demonstrated.  Reproduction riding & pack saddles are used, as well as early horse tack & gear.

The activities listed below are "tried and true,"

with audiences and participants of all ages,

in a diverse range of settings.

Flint-Knapping - Finding and using local stones and hardwoods, we guide you through the manufacture of early weapons and tools.  A stone axe, if made properly, can aid you in making survival shelters, obtaining food and many more survival basics.  Arrowhead knapping has been a survival technique for thousands of years, and instructors will show you the basics and you'll have a treasured keepsake of your own making for a memento.

Pow-Wow Dancing - Many folks are too shy (or don't know that they are welcome) to dance on "inter-tribals" when they visit a Pow-Wow, so we demonstrate the different Northern and Southern styles, and give folks info on etiquette of Pow-Wow.  Guests will dance with us after being moved out of their chairs by the heartbeat of the sacred drums.

Friendship Sweat - Ideally set in a secluded area, guests enjoy the physical and spiritual aspects of a sweat lodge ceremony, without the strict formality and rigors of a "regular" sweat.  Guests may assist in building the lodge, selecting rocks, picking sage and tending the fire.  An introductory session is held prior to the sweat for newcomers to get acquainted with all the details for maximum mental and physical comfort.  This activity is only available for those who have refrained from alcohol for the day.  Please see separate Sweat Lodge Handout for more detail before requesting this activity.

Survival Training - Gray Wolf takes folks on a 2-day (or more) excursion with only a knife, an empty coffee can & a blanket.  Participants must be healthy & be screened by Gray Wolf prior to departure.  Less rigorous options are also available, including a seminar on survival basics, the skills of which can also be used in crisis situations (power outages, natural disasters, etc.).  See Survival Course link below for more details.
