Shamanism has been defined as the first religion. The Shamans were the first people with knowledge. They were the medicine people. Male and female. Knowledge is power and they learned how to obtain this power through awareness shifts. Awareness shifts were obtained in altered states of consciousness, that they discovered through fasts, thirsts, self-inflicted pain, concentration and hallucinogenic plants. The knowledge was shared at times, but mostly for personal use. It was passed from Medicine Man to Medicine Man. The Shamans of the tribe were very sacred. From these primal beginnings came all magic and religion. Today we have side - stepped the idea of pain and hallucinogens. today we use things like chants, dance, meditation, visualization, and music to obtain awareness shifts. Shamanism is living close to the natural world, living in harmony with it, and having balance with all other beings. Shamanism sees everthing as a reflection of the Great Spirit. We worship the creator by honoring the creation. We seek oneness with mother Earth. Mother Earth is calling us back to the ancient ways of shamanism so we might heal ourselves and our planet. I hope you find this site enlightning and educational. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to e-mail me or add them to my guestbook. Make yourself at home and explore. I have included more information on Shaminism, thoughts, poems, pictures, links and my personal crafts. Come back any time you need to relax. |
