| Animal Totems |
Nature hold many lessons for us all. Once one becomes aware and alert in nature, even the ant can be appreciated. Indians tend to recognize the smallest blade of grass to the highest mountain peaks as well as the ant to the largest whale. Animal totems can provide us with a greater understanding of ourselves . And by using animal medicine , we can strive for better balance of our spirit, mind and body. Every animal (bird, fish, mammal, reptile) has traits that we can learn from to help us get through our day to day activities and problems. We can all call upon the animal spirits to teach us. Each animal has specific powers and attributes to share with us. All you have to do is visualize a particular animal and call upon it. For example, lets say you are feeling lost. Eagle can never be lost as he flies higher and higher and can see with great clarity over long distances. So all you have to do is close your eyes, visualize Eagle...Breathe in and breathe Eagle deep within you. Become Eagle. Ask the Eagle spirit to enter you, live in your heart, to help you find your way, to see clearly, to gain the long view. Breathe in deeply again and feel eagle filling you with clarity and perspective . Thank Eagle when you are done. Whenever you need some assistance in your life, the animal spirits are waiting to help you.
