Biography
Juke are a 4 piece band from around Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Juke formed in March 2000 as a 3 piece band consisting of Matt McCullough (vocals, guitar), Luke Carson (bass) and Craig Hunter (drums).
They began writing and playing together, developing their own sound. When happy that they had a good enough set they decided it was time to record their first demo. They recorded a 5 track demo entitled "Jane" in October 2000. With this under their belts they felt ready to begin playing live. They began gigging around the local bars, playing every few weeks, selling their CD as they went.
The band continued to develop in their musical ability, learning from the feedback they were given on their efforts so far. Now armed with the experience of live performance and a with lot of new material, in February 2001 Juke returned to the studio to record their second CD. The end result was the release of the "Juke EP" on February 16th, which gave a fair representation of the bands progression so far. The band continued to gig with a set made up mainly of tracks from this CD.
In May 2001 the band started to discuss the possibility of adding another guitarist to their numbers. After some welcomed input from the musical community Dave Dickinson was added to the line-up. The band then went into relative hiding for a couple of months to fully incorporate their new member into the group.
This new line-up was unveiled to the world when they recently played at Summer Madness 2001 in the Kings Hall. The line-up change has given Juke a heavier sound than before, while still in maintaining the chunky riffs and melodic chorus lines people have come to expect from this young act.
Juke are planning to return to the studio again in the Autumn of 2001.
