On 26 June 1941 Vilnius is occupied by German troops. The Lithuanian Post works yet, but the connections are bad.
Therefore stamps were overprinted locally

Using this overprint-stamps is forbidden on 31 August 1941.
Then only the stamps of "Ostland" may be used. This occupation-stamps were used in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and White-Russia.
Also the regular German stamps were permitted. Apart from the "Deutsche Post Ostland" also the "Deutsche Dienstpost
Ostland" functioned in this area.

After the war Lithuania were a part of the Sovjet-Union again and much later it should become independent again.
