Coming in only a meter or so longer than the basic Constitution Class, the Alexanders are radically taller due to the third nacelle. Internal volume is greatly enlarged thanks to the extended superstructure of the primary hull.
The third nacelle's location atop the primary hull gives the vessel an advantage in battle. In case of emergency saucer seperation, the crew are left with a functional, warp-capable, albeit severely limited, spaceship.
