The U.S. holiday Decoration Day, now called Memorial Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in the nation's service. The holiday was first widely observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers. It is now celebrated in almost every state on the last Monday in May.
Now we use Memorial Day not only to honor our War Deceased, but to honor all of our deceased love ones, by visiting their graves and decorating with flowers.
