Description: Hopkins Highway is probably better known to locals as Mortlake Road, or Warrnambool Road from the other end. It is just 50km long, joining the south-west coastal city of Warrnambool with the small inland town of Mortlake, joining Princes Highway (A1) with Hamilton Highway (B140). Before the new route system came in, this road was SH104. The road was given state highway status in the early 1990's. It was named because it follows the Hopkins River.
Length: 50 km.
Condition: B120 is a two lane road with fairly narrow shoulders, but in quite good condition. Speed limit is 100 km/hr in rural areas. In Warrnambool the route follows Banyan Street up a steep hill where users give way to a local street that enters at a sharp angle. The better route would be Jamieson Street, which is flatter and actually has arterial road lighting. This was actually shown as the Hopkins Highway route in some older maps.

Heading south along Banyan Street going down the hill, where users give way to the street on the left. November 2004.

Heading south where Mortlake Road changes to Banyan Street. Jamieson Street heads of to the right. November 2004.

North just out of Warrnambool. The road has vertually no shoulders. November 2004.
