Balaclava
Located 7km south of Melbourne, Balaclava
was named after the battlefield in the Crimean War (1853-56).
Like neighbouring suburbs, it has a large Jewish population.
Carlisle Street is a busy shopping strip that continues to
join St Kilda's famous Esplanade.
