Warrnambool

Warrnambool is a coastal city of around 28,000, located 260km west of Melboune at the junction of Hopkins Highway (B120) and Princes Highway (A1). The city also sits on Lady Bay, on the banks of both the Hopkins and Merri Rivers. The city has some fine gardens, beaches (including the whale watchers paradise Logan's Beach), one of the finest racecourses in Victoria, and is home to Deakin University's Warrnambool campus. The shopping centre runs along quite a few wide streets with large roundabouts at every intersection. Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village is a recreation of the early years when Warrnambool was just that. Another typical feature of Warrnambool are the Norfolk Island Pines that line many streets. This is also typical for Port Fairy and Portland.
