Heathcote

Heathcote is a town of around 1,800, located 110 km north of Melbourne on Northern Highway at the southern end of McIvor Highway. The town is stretched out along the banks of McIvor Creek, at the foot of Mt Ida. Heathcote developed due to the gold rush in 1851, and the main street is lined with many historic buildings. Of interest in the area are Pink Cliffs, Lake Eppalock Reservior and Mt Ida Lookout.
