Geelong

Geelong is Victoria's second largest city, located 72 km south-east of Melbourne at the junction of Princes, Midland, Hamilton, Bellerine and Surf Coast Highways. It has a population of around 180,000. the city sits on Corio Bay, which is a part of Port Phillip, and is largely industrial, with a large port. It has some very elegant buildings overlooking the bay and along the wide streets. The city centre sits between the bay and Barwon River, and is very attractive. Just to the east of the CBD is Eastern Park, which is a large open space with many trees, and also has the botanic gardens. At the northern end of the CBD is Eastern Beach and Fishermans Wharf. There are also historic maritime buildings along Brougham Street, now used by Deakin University.
