Alexandra

Alexander is an attractive town of over 2,000 people, located at the junction of Goulburn Valley and Maroondah Highways, 130km north-east of Melbourne. Gold was found in the area in 1866 and the area was populated with gold-diggers. Today the town serves the surrounding farmland, and is a popular retreat for craftspeople and has a weekend market. The main street is very attractive with its historical buildings and central plantation.
