Joschi / Thanks to Bitten Jönsson for this beautiful gift!

There are so many different personal homepages on the web. Which of them are of interest to others? Which of them are worth to be recognized as outstanding? It's difficult to give an answer which is really satisfying. One idea is that a site with many awards must be special in some way or another, and there are sites with so many awards that one can hardly believe it. But are they the best of all? Does quantity represent quality? Not necessarily, of course!

On the other hand, similar to the various charts of music, movies, books etc., why shouldn't there exist a list of the most awarded homepages, why shouldn't we give a place for those people who are proud of the awards they received for their sites, for so many hours of hard work and effort?

However, in addition there is another difficulty as far as the awards are concerned, we all know there are different kinds of awards, and there are different criteria to receive them. While one award is not much more than a link exchange, another award is extremely hard to receive. Anyway, we must neglect this important difference if we simply speak of the numbers of awards, but it is supposed that someone who seriously tries to get a great number of awards will as well try hard to improve his site, to make it more interesting and more pleasing.

Others try to present a much better solution, I think of David Bancroft from *Award Sites!* with his new *Halls of Recognition*. He uses a very complicated system, based on specific rating levels, a method which we can't adopt, and we can't and we won't compete with.

Award Sites!
Award Sites!

Our approach is quite simple, but that does not mean that our list is completely useless, in the long run it is very demanding, too. Though, we all have to make a contribution if the list ought to remain a list with some reputation. We all have to be honest. It goes without saying that no one should try to cheat, that no one should display awards which he didn't receive or counts awards which are not there. This is not a suspicion against some current members of the list, but in the past there were persons who actually had to be disqualified for that reason.

I would think that all of us support a free and fair competition for all, a game which all of us can enjoy.

One of my own sites belong to the *TOP TEN* list, but I can make the promise that *The Little Dog JOSCHI* will keep more in the background in the future since he has taken over the list from Gayla Nelson. He has definitely not the ambition to climb to the top! No one has to be afraid of an unfair play.

Feel always free to contact us with questions and suggestions or even complaints. Feedback is very much appreciated!

All the best to you all!
