The Frigate Numancia was considered the most powerful ship of her time. Built by the "Forges et Chantiers de la Mediterranée" in the shipyards of "La Seigne" in Tolon, her cost was of more than 8,000,000 pesetas, an astounding amount for that time.
As a prove of the power of this ship, in the battle of El Callao, the frigate Numancia received more than 50 hits of fortress guns. But received no damage beside some sailors (and the Admiral Mendez Nuñez) wounded.
