This is the story of Superman from his
father trying to convince council of Krypton that their world is about
to self distract, through the beginning of Superman's life as a super hero
on earth. Superman's early life on earth is covered very briefly, only
covering his landing in a field and being found by the Kent's, then a short
couple of scenes as a teenager before traveling north to raise his fortress
of solitude. From there he travels to Metropolis, where he becomes a mild
mannered reporter for the Daily Planet. When Lois gets he trouble he starts
his life as Superman. About the same time Lex Luthor (who considers himself
to be the world's greatest criminal mind) is planning a major criminal
act and must now find a way to get Superman out of the way in order to
make it work.
Except for the ending I liked this movie,
it was fun and exciting. The DVD is two sided, with one side showing the
movie, plus a commentary and a direct link to scenes added back in which
were not in earlier versions. The second side has the other bonus materials.

The infant Kal-El (Superman's Krypton name)
is seen nude from the rear as he is placed in the ship which will take
him to earth. When he arrives on earth, at about the age of three or four,
he is seen nude from the front in two short shots.
