patch The Real Patch Adams

ET: What was the most interesting part about watching the film?

Patch: Well, the first time I saw the film was out in L.A. in October with my son, and I cried happily almost through the whole movie.

I realized that they did a great job.
America would love the movie, and we might have our hospital.

It was an overall emotional feeling of, after 28 years of being unsuccessful in fundraising, to be able to have a hospital.
That's the biggest thing.

The second thing is that I love that my name is attached to a message of compassion, generosity, and humor going out in the world...
I know how unhappy the world is because I'm on the pulse of it.

This movie may help many people who are working to make the world a better place.

ET: What is the response you received?

Patch: It's overwhelming!
It's really romantic, all over the country people are standing, giving it ovations -- whether there are ten people in the theater or whether it's packed.

Every place has said that they're giving it resounding applause.

People are dressing up as clowns all over the country, and handing out our 800 number to help us get donations.

For us, it's about building a hospital.
