"The real stage is inside", Joerg Dao.

  hello.

i am doing a piece of drama coursework on mental illnesses and in order to act out the issues properly i need to understand why and what happens when you hallucinate. i would appreciate very much if you could reply and give me some insight into this.
Thankyou very much.
Hi Emily Cooper.

I like your approach, and would first of all know, where you are.
I am living in Berlin / germ-any at the moment.

My understanding about hallucination (hn) could bring new possibilities for theatre.
In my understanding, the main part of hn is a not finished connection to other people.
as you easily can see, this could be worked out amazingly on stage.
I would like to share more about that with you, if you like.
cheers Joerg Dao.

Hi
thank you for your reply, what are the effects off having hallucinations seen from a normal persons point of view? and why do people get hallucinations in the first place?
I would appreciate your reply once again.
thank you.
Hi,

I can`t answer the first part, maybe you have to be more precise.
The second part, I can only guess.
The main question is: How do you define them ?
In my approach, I would NOT call it that (hn), but would refer to the underlying ideas, emotions and experiences.
I think, diagnosis and labels mainly seperate and are an obstacle to truely perceive and understand.

So you want to stage a person, that should play how it has hn ?
Think of a lost love. How often did you fantasize about how it should be, other, maybe it could be changed,...? But you had no idea, no instrument, to change it the way you where fantasizing.

Now put it on a bigger scale. Someone has lost someone dear violently, in a way, he/she can`t believe, understand, accept. So what is the mind doing, running around ?
On that, some "experts" could address it as hn, because the main reason and person, whom these thoughts are originally addressed to, got lost.

Gravitational Pull is most intensively based on our feelings. The audience is called co-feeler, and their perceptions are the centre of this piece.
