Ski Trip - in the French Alps
2nd page - including the snow skate attempt
During the ski trip, we managed to break a couple of sleds, a lift, a bed, two coach leg resters, a ski, a ski boot, cutlery, 2 wooden coat holders and knackered a phone. We also came away with some freebies including pint glasses, beer mats, posters and drink stirrers.
I'd also just like to say the hotel we stayed in was crap. The taps came of f, there were exposed wires from the shower, some lights were inaccessible, there was a non-existant balcony, the meals were really small, waiting for up to 15 mnutes for each course, the croissents and pain au chocalau usually had mould on them, the cutlery was often dirty, the locker facilities were small and cramped, the ski's had no edges and uncomfortable bindings, the rooms were never cleaned, bins not emptied, the bed were not fixed all week, after we broke it on the 3rd day. Jack's room had excrement up the walls of the toilet, and even though reported, was not cleaned. The service at the reception was slow and the staff were unhelpful too.
On a positive note, the ski-ing was excellent, as were our instructors. There was a vast amount of different runs with good lifts to all areas. The town also had some descent shops and bars, and sold some excellent alcohol. Picon!
A couple of other notes; the French were generally OK, lychee liquor is not a good idea, lifts should be able to carry as many people as can fit in, no one should ever have to endure watching 'Coyote Ugly' - the worst film I have ever seen or watch the 'Lord of the Ring' movies on a coach television. Injuries suffered by other ski-ers included a broken shoulder, strained groin muscle and dislocated thumb. Its really frustrating to have to wait for the slowest ski-er, the resort needs a red light district and local McDonalds, only stay in hotels you know are descent, and finally, the leg room at the back of the coach on the journey home was fan-fucking-tastic!
