Latest Rides - Where we've been lately
Farley Mount
After a seven or so mile road trek into Winchester I arrive at Jack's house to be told, 'You're an hour early'. I tell him he forgot to put his clocks forward and to hurry-up getting ready for the day's ride. Once we'd done the final checks of food, drink, punture repair kits etc, we set off. Another few miles on the road and we arrive at Farley Mount.
Jack's ridden most of the trails recently so he leads the way. Our route starts fast, on wide paths through the trees. After a few minutes of cruising we hit a really nice natural jump before riding some flatter terrain. We also find some really good singletrack and the weather continues to be perfect, providing us with dusty trails. Soon it was lunch time so we rested up and ate our energy food, (mars bar, kit-kats, fruit etc). Once we were riding again, we found some good downhill turns so spent some time clearing the area of fallen trees, and felled a few as well. We also came across some logging machinary so checked it out and wandered what the hell each part did. Several more miles and we were now riding in Crab Wood, the singletrack was great with some lively terrain and really beautiful woodland. We took our final pit-stop, tanning in the car park, finished our drinks before headed home. It was a real bitch to have to ride the extra seven or so miles to my village, but the day's riding had definitely been worth making the effort.
