In 1678 he moved with his family to Woodbury, where he became the town miller. Here he built a house, about 1680, now owned and restored by the Old Woodbury Historical Society. On 29 Apr 1688 John Hurd and his wife joined the Woodbury Church. On 20 Dec 1690 there was a settlement or agreement between Anna Hurd, widow, and children Joseph, Benjamin, Ebenezer, and Sarah, about an estate that was lately John Hurd's of Woodbury dec'd. It was approved in the Fairfield County Court on 1 Nov 1698, and recorded at Woodbury 8 Feb 1728/9.

[NI3403] On 27 Aug 1739 the ship "Snow Betsy" arrived at Philadelphia, from Rotterdam and Deal, with Richard Budden its Commander. Among the passengers over 16 years of age was Nicholas Leyenberger.
[NI4505] Nicholas was a Rev War Patriot, Capt Paxton's 4th Co, 1st Battalion, Bedford Co Militia. By 1775 he owned a hundred acres of land in Cumberland Valley Twp. In 1784 and 1790 he had a wife and six children. His will is dated 3 July 1803, and proved 11 Mar 1808. Will - Book 1, p 253 Bedford Co, PA.
[NI3401] Ludwick was a Rev War Patriot, Capt Paxton's 4th Co, 1st Battalion, Bedford Co Militia. He was a very early settler of Londonderry Township, settling on Wolf Camp Run. He had a tannery that was still on his property (as of 1997), and erected one of the first mills in that part of the county. Ludwick and wife Phoebe are listed as communicants of the Little Wills Creek Church in the years 1805-1826. Tradition has it that one morning Ludwick had been sowing oats and came home from the field for the noon day meal. He laid down for a few minutes of rest and peacefully passed away. His will is dated 20 Feb 1827, and was proved 17 Aug 1827. Will - Book 2, p 241 Bedford Co, PA. In his will he mentions his wife Philabena, two of his older sons and his younger children. At that time most of his older children had moved to Ohio. There is no record to tell accurately the order of birth of his children. SAR Patriot Graves Register says buried in Lybarger Lutheran Church Cem, Londonderry Twp, Bedford Co, PA.

[NI13134] Charles DeWitt was one of the most prominent men of Ulster Co in the political events which preceded and accompanied the Revolutionary War. From 1768 to 1775 he was a member of the Colonial Assembly, and as a member of the last legislative body which sat under royal authority, was one of the nine resolute and patriotic men who voted to approve of the proceedings of the Continental Congress. He was a member of the Provincial Convention of April 1775, and of the third and fourth Provincial Congresses. On Dec 21, 1775 he was commissioned Colonel of a regiment of minute men. When the State Government was organized, Col. DeWitt was made a member of the committee to draft a Constitution; and from 1781 to 1785 he sat in the State Assembly. Charles DeWitt's will is dated 7 July 1776; written as he was preparing to leave for the war in New York City, in case he never returned. In his will he mentions his 5 children: John, Gerrit, Margrietje, Mary and Anne. He also names his brother Andries J. DeWitt, his son John, and his sister's son Benjamin Nukerk Jr. as his executors. His will was brought to court 4 Jan 1788 by Lucas Elmendorph of Hurley, Benjamin Nukerk, and Cornelius Crispel. Administration was granted to his son John C. DeWitt.
