[NI3401] Ludwick was a Rev War Patriot, Capt Paxton's 4th Co, 1st Battalion, Bedford Co Militia. He was a very early settler of Londonderry Township, settling on Wolf Camp Run. He had a tannery that was still on his property (as of 1997), and erected one of the first mills in that part of the county. Ludwick and wife Phoebe are listed as communicants of the Little Wills Creek Church in the years 1805-1826. Tradition has it that one morning Ludwick had been sowing oats and came home from the field for the noon day meal. He laid down for a few minutes of rest and peacefully passed away. His will is dated 20 Feb 1827, and was proved 17 Aug 1827. Will - Book 2, p 241 Bedford Co, PA. In his will he mentions his wife Philabena, two of his older sons and his younger children. At that time most of his older children had moved to Ohio. There is no record to tell accurately the order of birth of his children. SAR Patriot Graves Register says buried in Lybarger Lutheran Church Cem, Londonderry Twp, Bedford Co, PA.

[NI3399] Ludwick was not old enough to serve in the Revolution, but was eligible for duty in 1789. The state surveyed land for him in Bedford Co, PA in 1789. He was married and had three children prior to 1790. Ludwick lived all his life in Bedford Co., inheriting his father's property along Wills Creek. He was active in the affairs of the Lutheran Church, for his name frequently appears on the records. From one record of baptisms are listed all of his children.
[NI4521] Daniel is first mentioned on the records in 1789 when, as a resident of Bedford Twp, he became eligible for military service. 4 Jan 1794 he bought a lot in the town of Bedford. He was a blacksmith, and was listed as such in the tax list of 1796. Daniel was a member of the Methodist Church. It is a family tradition that his daughter Jennie helped serve dinner to President Washington when he was in Bedford on 19 Oct 1794. His will is dated 30 July 1843, and proved 7 Aug 1843. (Recorded in Vol 3, p 256 Bedford Co Wills.) In it he left his "mansion house", lots in Bedford, and his shops and stables to his daughter Rosanna, and also provided for the children of his daughter Margaret by her marriage to William Creuzberg.

[NI4520] Although named Lewis, the family name of Ludwick was soon given to him, and it stuck with him through life, even though he had a brother by the same name. The date of his birth is uncertain. Lewis and his sons were among the first settlers of Howard Twp, Knox Co, Ohio. Will dated 28 Jun 1835, proved 12 Oct 1835. Lists wife Mary, 3 sons Jacob, Lewis & Henry, 8 other children not named.
[NI4522] George moved to Knox Co, Ohio in 1808, settling in Howard Township.
[NI4524] Andrew was a tanner. His name first appears on census records in Londonderry Twp, Bedford Co, PA in 1800. He moved to Coshocton, Ohio in the spring of 1808, and soon took up farmland in Tuscarawas Twp. Andrew was a member of "Johnson's Riflemen" during the War of 1812. By 1820 Andrew was working as a tanner in Clinton Twp, Knox Co, Ohio. In 1828 Andrew moved to Danville, Knox Co, OH, where he established a tannery. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church. Andrew's will was dated 18 Mar 1854, proved 7 Feb 1855. Son, Edwin, executor.
[NI4525] Jacob was a Justice of the Peace. He first settled in Knox Co, Ohio, but later located in Mohican Twp, Ashland Co, Ohio.
