INDEX

[NI12308] This family is first found in the outlying section of Newark, New Jersey, then called Second River, and part of which is now the towns of Nutley and Belleville in Essex County. They were among the first settlers of Horseneck in what is now the Caldwell-Fairfield area. On 30 Dec 1695 he sold, as John ffrancis, a parcel of land containing 24 acres, within the bounds of Newark and on the east side of the Third River.

[NI12307] On 8 April 1735 Hendrick ffransen was appointed one of the Constables for the Second River area of Newark Township. Hendrick and Leventie were witnesses to the baptism of Alexander, son of his brother Frans at the Acquackanock Church, 31 Dec 1727. They also witnessed the baptism at the Second River Ref. Dutch Church, 29 Oct 1727, of Thomas, son of his brother Abraham.

[NI12310] Also called Barent V. Sisco. In his will, dated 4 Jan 1775, proved 13 Jun 1781, he calls himself Barent Francisco, of Morris County. Baurent Francisco and John Francisco are included in the list of freeholders of Morris County from the Township of Preakness dated 31 Aug 1752. In the Essex County Court Files for 15 Jun 1767 he is given a judgement against Nathaniel Pierson in a suit of trespass.

[NI12311] The Newark town records show his property as being one of the lines of division between Newark and Second River. County Court minutes mentions him as a Constable of Newark in 1744/45.

[NI12312] Probable son of John Fransoy and Geshee. He was a sponsor for the son of his supposed brother Barent at Acquackanonk, 13 Apr 1729. He owned land at Tewaughaw (Towaco) in 1749, and was among the freeholders of Morris County, Township of Poquanack, 31 Aug 1752.
