[NI4833] Peter emigrated to America, landing at Philadelphia on 24 Aug 1728, from the ship "Nortonhouse," John Coultas, master, from Rotterdam. He probably remained in Pennsylvania, probably at Germantown. He was not living in 1755, as the marriage of his daughter, Maria Catharina, in that year, describes her as "the daughter of the late John Peter Melick." His children settling in Hunterdon Co, NJ.

[NI17411] Daughter of Abraham VanHorn, of White House, Hunterdon Co, NJ.

[NI17410] Tunis first settled at White House, Hunterdon Co, NJ, where he built a grist mill on South Rockaway Creek. He later moved to New Germantown, in the same county, where he built a new mill. Served as county freeholder from 1776 to 1791. For a number of years he was a leading member of Zion Lutheran Church, and he was instrumental in founding the first Methodist congregation of his county.

[NI17412] Maria Catharine married on 3 Apr 1755 to John Henry, son of John Valentine Muller. They lived in Tewksbury Twp, Hunterdon Co, NJ.

[NI17413] John was a tanner and currier in the city of New York. His will, dated 26 Sep 1767, and proved 24 Dec 1767, listed a wife Christiana and 6 children.

[NI18930] Son of John Chipman, born probably at Bryans-Piddle, near Dorchester, England, who sailed from Barnstable, Devon, England, in May 1631, in the ship Friendship, arriving in Boston 14 July 1631. In Massachusetts John (Jr) was a magistrate, a member of the General Court, a justice of the Court of Common Pleas, 1722. In Rhode Island, where he lived after 1727, he was first of the six Associates of that colony and with the other Associates, the Governor and Philip Cortland and Daniel Horsemanden of the New York Council, was a member of the Commissioners of Review appointed by royal authority, who met at Norwich, Conn., and decided Connecticut's course towards the Indians. He died at the home of his son Handley.

[NI11480] Daughter of Thomas Handley. Married (1) ____ Pope; (2) ____ Russell; (3) John Chipman.

[NI1108] Handley Chipman lived in Newport, RI, until shortly after 1761, and thereafter in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was a magistrate, and in 1753 a Deputy in the RI General Assembly. In Cornwallis, he was a justice of the peace and judge of probate, holding the latter office until his death.
