[NI3582] Migrated to Holland abt 1750. Jacob and Maria worked as weavers to earn passage to America. It took them 3.5 years to do this. While in Holland they had their 1st child, Mary Elizabeth, who died from smallpox during the Atlantic voyage in 1754. They landed at Philadelphia and settled 70 miles west in Lancaster Co, PA. Here they had 3 sons. After some years they moved to Franklin Co, near Chambersburg. Jacob died between 1758-1792. After Jacob's death, Maria lived with their youngest son, and in 1792 moved with him to VA, where she lived at least 25 years.
[NI3579] Christian served in the Revolutionary War, from PA, in Captain Bradley's Co, 9th Batt., 8th Class, Lancaster Co Militia. Christian appears on 1779 tax list for Bern Twp, Berks Co, PA. He is also listed on the 1781 tax list for Bern Twp. He was granted 98 acres on Looney's Mill Creek (Botetourte Co, VA) in 1787 and in 1795, obtained 500 acres on Back Creek.
