Please Note
I am updating again in an effort to reduce the amount of bandwidth used by this site. I am trying to get to all the pages as quickly as possible. I will not be adding any more new fonts until the update is completed.
Please be sure to turn off your download managers. Fortune City does not seem to like them.
The links are designed to open up in a new window, so please turn off your "Popup Stoppers".
According to Fortune City's new policy, you may experience difficulty with the site, if you have not enabled cookies in your browser.
Due to the fact that Microsoft has changed the way fonts are handled in Windows XP, you may get a "This is not a valid font file" message when viewing the older files.

Introduction
As I surfed the net, looking for fonts to use in my classroom, I noticed that there did not seem to be any font archive specifically aimed at teachers. I decided to build this website to address that need. I hope that you will find this site useful.
This site contains fonts for PC's only.
To the best of my knowledge, all the fonts included are freeware or nominally priced shareware. They are all posted on other sites. If you should see a font that should not be here, please email me and I will remove it. I have also attempted to give credit where credit is due. I did not create these fonts and am not claiming to have done so. These font files contain all the files originally included by the author. They are compressed using the "zipped" format. They are been scanned for viruses using House Calls.

Downloading and Installing the Fonts
With the advent of additional Windows operating systems, ( 98, 2000, ME, XP, and NT), these directions are not as specific as I would like. If you are having difficulties, please visit the links listed below. To download a font, click on "Download this Font". Your browser will ask you where you would like to save the file. Remember this location, and the name of the file. You will need an unzipping utility in order to install the font, unless you are using Windows XP, which decompresses files automatically. Winzip is shareware and used by many. Another unzipping program that is freeware is Power Archiever. If you want to unzip a whole directory of files at once, Unziplify does the job nicely.
To install the font file, open "Windows Explorer" (the shortcut should be found in your "Start" menu). Navigate to the directory into which you saved the file. When you double click on it, your unzipping program should open up. After reading the text file, select the file that has the extension ".ttf". Select "extract" and tell the program to extract the selected file to the same directory as the "zipped" file. Now close your unzipping program and "Windows Explorer".
In order to make the font available for use in other programs, double click on "My Computer" found on your desktop. Find the folder marked "Control Panel" and double click on it also. You should see a folder labeled "Fonts". Double click on it and you will see all the fonts currently found within that folder. Now go to "File" and "Install New Font". Tell the program to look into the folder to which you downloaded the new fonts. Find the name of the font that you downloaded and click on it. Then check "the Copy fonts to Font folder" option. Click "OK" and your font is now installed. Close down all your open programs and windows, and reboot your computer. Your downloaded font should now be included as a choice in all your programs.

Tip
If you do not care to install the font, but just want to use it once or twice, drag it onto your desktop after unzipping the downloaded file, open, and minimize it. It will be available as long as it remains opened and in your system tray.

Note to Mac Users
There is a conversion utility available that will convert Windows fonts to ones that are usable on a Mac. I have no idea as to its quality or reliability, as I do not own a mac. Please go here or here to read about it.
If you are looking for penmanship fonts made especially for MAC's(not converted PC fonts), Kids Fonts, has an outlined coloring font, a dotted manuscript font, and a dotted D'Nealian manuscript font available for downloading, but they are shareware if you use them in the classroom.
