Please Note
Some of the fonts included on this page are dingbats (picture fonts with no alphabet letters included). In order to use them , first open your word processing or graphics layout program. Then go to:

START --- PROGRAMS--- ACCESSORIES --- SYSTEM TOOLS--- CHARACTER MAP

In the "Fonts" box select the font that you wish to use.

You will then see small boxes with all the pictures that are included in the font. Click on the picture that you wish to use, and then hit the "Select" button.

The picture will now appear in the "Copy" box. Next select the "Copy" button and go to the program that you are using.

In the program place your cursor where you would like the picture, and select EDIT--- PASTE.

Alternate way: Note the numbers that appear along the bottom right-hand edge of the Character Map window. It should ssay something like, "Keystroke: ALT+0062".

Now go back to your program and place the cursor where you want the character to be.

Be sure that the little light is on under "Num Lock" on your keyboard, found next to the "Caps Lock" light. (If not, find the "Num Lock" key on your keyboard and press it. Next, while holding down the ALT key (found to the left of the space bar), use you NUMBER KEYPAD to type the numbers (do not include the "+").

Release the ALT key, and there is your character.

Dingbat Font Links
Dingbat fonts are very useful in providing a quick and inexpensive source of clipart for theme units. The selection of freeware cultural and animal dingbats on the internet is extensive. I have only included those that I thought to be most useful or unusual on this website. For more dingbat fonts please visit these sites:

Graphics for Teachers

The blue patterned background and also the background on the button was made using "Country Wallpaper Tiles" by Wompie. The blackboard was made using a tutorial by Mahagony. The teacher figure is based on the Patchwork Angel Tutorial by Vrai. The apple applique was made using a tutorial by Tina Martensson. Some of the graphics used on this page were created by me using images that I scanned from scrapbook pages published by Provo Crafts and others. Similar pages may be purchased at your local craft store. Please do not copy them.
