James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942 at Walton General Hospital Liverpool. Two years later, Peter Michael McCartney (who later changed his name to Mike McGear for some reason) was born. Just like John and Ringo, Paul's childhood was filled with sadness, his mother Mary died of breast cancer when he was 14. When he was 13 his family moved to Allerton, only a few miles down the road from where John Lennon lived. The opposite of John, Paul did very well in school. On July 6, 1957, Paul and his friend went to see the Quarrymen play. Paul met John that day. A few days later, the Quarrymen asked him to join. A few years later and a few band members lost and gained, the Beatles appeared. After the Beatles, Paul and his wife Linda McCartney formed a band called Wings. They had many hits, such as Band On The Run and Maybe I'm Amazed. He was the only ex-Beatle to form and sustain a band during his solo career.
