The Unofficial VOOT Tournament August 1998
by Singapore Virtual On Club

Tournament Write-up v0.85 18/9/98 0130 hours.
Background

The crowds are starting to form at 6pm.
In an effort to get a VOOT tournament going, I had approach the supervisor of Ang Mo Kio Funland on several occasions dating as far back as October 1997. However, my requests were refused and I was asked to call up their headquarters, Valibel Technologies. I was told that I cannot book the VOOT machines in anyway and if I want to organise a tournament, it had to be done privately.
On Saturday 11/7/98, we had the SiVOC first "pre-tournament" to get to know how to run the actual event. The event took place at Ang Mo Kio Funland at 6pm. We had a real blast then, but the event was let down by a poorly designed ranking system, which was fixed by the unofficial tournament.
With the help of Jun Ming, we draw up the rules for the game and started to "advertise" the tournament to the VOOT pilots in the Funland Ang Mo Kio and E-Zone. James Wong helped out in bring several outstanding players from Bedok over and Christopher Tan, who had came back just in time from US modified out tournament format to able us to have tons of fun !
