Subject: Re: Wm. Carver on web
Hi James,
I definitely want to remain on the list. Tom sent me a note last night, it turns out he went to school with my mom. I had been given geneological info that spliced two CARVER lines; I in error continued on that vein until I lucked up on your webpage. I've only been searching afew months. This lineage is more believable to me. My mistake was having William CARVER married to Mary WALMSLEY not Mary WILSON. The dates were similar as well as children's names. Here it the majority of what I sent to Tom. You will be able to see the rest of my lineage.
I found a book entitled Geneology of William Carver from Hertfordshire,England in 1682 by Elias Carver. It was published in 1903. The brothers CARVER ( John, William, Jacob, & Joseph) came on the ship "Welcome" This is the passage of the book that was sent to me as follows:
"William CARVER was born in England and came to Byberry, Philadelphia,PA.,in 1682. In the 11th month, 1689 (old style), he married atFriends' Meeting, Middletown Twp, Bucks Co., PA., Joan KINSEY, a descendent of Chief Justice KINSEY. This wife having died, he married at Falls Monthly Meeting, in 1723, Grace Carter, a widow, whose maiden name was PAXSON, from Bristol, England. By her he had but one child, Hannah. He died at Byberry,in May,1736,and she in 1737. His will was proven, June 2,1736, and recorded in Philadelphia in Will Book E,page 369; his widow's will in Will Book F,page 42, in 1737. His children are, as shown by his will: 1.Sarah Carver 2.Rachel Carver 3. William CARVER b.3-22-1694; m. 10-28-1719, Elizabeth Walmsley, daughter of Henry and Mary Searle, his wife; d. Jan,1759 in Bucks Co., PA; will recorded at Doylestown, PA in Will Book No.2,page 353, Jan 30, 1759. His widow died in Warwick Twp in 1772. 4.Rebecca Carver 5.Hester Carver 6.Mary Carver 7.Hannah Carver."

I THINK THAT ASSUMPTION WAS THE MISTAKE. The rest is Sampson CARVER b. 1755? d. 1838? married Rhoda Edmondson d. 1760. Then I descend fom Jesse CARVER and Boissy?. Next is his son James CARVER b.1814 Montgomery Co. d. 1882 that married 1)Rhoda TUCKER-no kids, then 2) Sarah RICKETSON b. 1814 Montgomery Co. d. 10-30-1872. Both are in Osteen Cem.
Children were: Vincent RICKETSON CARVER b. 1836, took the name RICKETSON, either born before the marriage or was angry with dad; Mahulda b. 1838; Jesse b.1839; Boissey b. 1841; Eliza b.1842; Mariah b. 1845; Allen b. 4-4-1845; Mary b 1844; Martha b. 1844; Matilda b. 1848; James Jefferson b. 1850; Delilah b. 1855; Sarah b. 1858 married Elijah PURVIS; Josiah b. 1859 (mine) married Mary "Polly" Purvis; and Mary Jane b. 1860.
[ I also descend from Jesse CARVER and Sarah RICKETSON on my mother's side through Allen CARVER that married Beady VICKERS, their child Boyce CARVER that married Henderson DAY then Eunice DAY that married Benjamin Hoyt HOPE and their child, Joyce HOPE (my mom) that married Alton CARVER (dad)]it

Next after James was Josiah CARVER that married Mary "Polly" PURVIS. Then Daniel CARVER b.10-17-1876 married Mahala MOORE; > Ira CARVER b. 1903 married Myrtle HESTER > Alton CARVER b. 6-27-1940 married Joyce HOPE b. 11-28-1942 > then me Erica Leigh CARVER b. 1-16-1969 and my brother Kevin Alton CARVER b. 7-7-76

Thanks, Erica,
